Introduction
Wilson Brothers Limited is a Canadian company that makes baked food products and also bottle drinks.
Being appointed as a director of the company, an analysis is to be done on different aspects of the
organisation. Bob and John Wilson has asked to prepare a summary report.
1. Organisational Design and Structure
Due to the globalisation, Wilson brothers start paying attention towards their products and their competitors.
The functions and roles of employees were changed towards the new objectives of the organisation. It
resulted in lack of proper organisation design. To help out this issue, functional structure of organisation
design must be followed by Wilson Brothers by dividing different groups according to the skills and
expertise.
2. Job Design
Job Design is a process of assigning the tasks and duties to right person. In Wilson Brothers, there was a
lack of job design. Which may sometimes create problems. Designing jobs according to employees lead in
increase of motivation among them. So, it is an important factor to give an ultimate job structure to solve
decisions of who, when, why, where what.
3. Decision Making
In Wilson Brothers, all major decisions were taken by the brothers itself. Taking all decisions on their own
led to a quick solution. But sometimes quickly taken decisions led to a failure. So, the brothers must
consider all the aspects related to the situation. For this a rational model of decision making can be followed.
In it, a proper analysis is done before taking any decision and then the chosen action is communicated to all
concern persons.
4. Equity
In Wilson Brothers company, there is many issues related to the fair behaviour towards employees. There is
a lack of equal treatment and salaries for same positions are also distributed unfair. This leads to a lack of
motivation among employees. The company should be capable in managing diversity and equality among
employees. Through the application of capabilities approach, every employee can be given a fair chance
according to his skills and knowledge.
5. Organisation Culture
A strong culture prevails in Wilson Brothers Company. All employees follow similar beliefs and values that
results in an increased work performance. It also helps in building a strong team. But sometimes, the
employees start working according to their own ways without being care of organisation norms. So it is very
important to improve culture in company. This can be done by creating transparency, reward in public,
making collaborations etc.
