Assignment #2 – Self and Social Media Week 4 1.What were your total scores for each subscale? TOTAL SCORE TIME 1 Social Integration subscale: ____28_____ TOTAL SCORE TIME 1 Emotional Connection subscale: __12_______ 2.Reflect on who you are based on the results, do you agree or not? On the basis of the results, I can say that I am a social “media shy” person who prefers to use social media as a serious business mostly. The scores seem on the higher side in the social integration subscale, however, they are on the lower side on the emotional connection subscale. This also gives an idea that I am not addicted to social media and survive without it very easily on an interpersonal level.

Week 5 3.What social media platforms do you use? I prefer to use Facebook, WhatsApp group and Linked Inn. 4.For what purpose do you use each platform? With the help of the Whatsapp group, I am connected with my close friends, relatives, and family members. It is a kind of replacement of the regular calling on the phone. Sometimes we use Whatsapp as a tool for saving the time, a message posted on the wall of a group is for everyone and we don’t need to post the same message for every person individually. Facebook is my connection with distance relationships and individuals with whom I share a semi-personal relationship. With the help of Facebook, I also stay in touch with the latest news and views. As a social media platform, Facebook allows me to stay in touch with the latest happenings around me. My "Linked In" account is meant for professional interactions. Here I maintain a formal profile and only deals with career and profession-related matters. Week 7 5.How would you characterize the quality and content of your social media use? To answer this question, you may want to try referring to some of your posts/shares/etc. Most of the social media platform gives you this interface where you can register your presence by liking or disliking the presence of the others(Shanab, 2015). Sometimes I reflect my mood on certain occasions or happenings that are taking place around me. For instance, on the day of
"women's day, sometimes I prefer to share a few quotes about the multiple roles that a woman play in our life. Sometimes I share healthy jokes commenting on the changing social trends. If I will be given a chance to characterize my content, then I would like to give it the adjective of “entertaining content.” 6.What kinds of things do you share? I prefer to share humorous content and meme’s mostly depicting the “comedy of manners.” Social media allows us to subtly putting forward certain messages. Many dedicated pages are producing such type of humorous content on a daily basis. I select some meaningful messages and forward them to my friends. 7.How often and with whom? I am not a regular; if something appeals to me then I prefer to share it with my friends on Facebook. If any message has an anecdotal value then I sometimes share it on Whatsapp. 8.Why do you feel you need to share certain information? Whenever I work on Linked In, I feel that I should share the milestones of my career with others. I treat Linked in as a medium of broadcast rather than a medium of personal messaging or official messaging. For the purpose of messaging, I rely more on a traditional electronic mail, where I can answer the emails while following the official protocols. I need to broadcast myself on Linked in because I want to showcase my abilities in front of the probable employers and let them know about the expansions in my working profile.

Week 9 9.How does your social media use to relate to how you view yourself? Sometimes I use social media as a gentle reminder, whenever I share something funny on social media, the likes, and comments made by my friends allow me to check a few things about my choices. On a professional level, I always check the visitor's data and check their profile in return. This exercise gives me an idea that what type of employers are interested in the services that I am offering in the market. It also gives me an idea about the new job profiles that are emerging in the market. My social media outings where I check the profiles of the visitors also gives me an idea about the areas of my job profile where I need to add a few skills and upgrade my knowledge. 10.What aspects do you think have contributed to your identity and sense of self, and why? I am not overboard with my online personality. Sometimes it can act as a projected personality and disappoint people in the real world. For instance, if I wish to write about my hobbies on a Facebook profile, then I am bound to fill certain columns. Most of the questions in this area are close-ended questions. They can only present a superficial idea of my personality; my real personality is something that I can present while someone will meet me on a one on one basis. However, social media taught me this art of staying on my toes all the time. The information is traveling very fast here and we cannot deny the fact that "the first impression is the lasting one." So far I projected my image as an intelligent and sensitive person.
Week 12 11.What changes do you want to make (or have you made) to your social media use? Why? As the trends in the media suggest and I personally feel about it, I want to remove all the elements that can be considered as fake. Here I would like to comment upon the culture of the Selfies, I saw many teenagers and adults clicking selfies voraciously. In the search of a selfie, they often forget about the real intent of any occasion or a trip. While visiting the profiles of my friends I sometimes feel that they are living for selfies. In my views, a selfie is only a moment captured from a beautiful or enjoyable event of life. It should remain like that. Personally, I would like to cut down anything that looks pompous from my social media uses. Week 13 Fill out the survey again on the next page – keep your results. Answer the following questions: 12.What were your total scores for each subscale? TOTAL SCORE TIME 2 Social Integration subscale: __30_______ TOTAL SCORE TIME 2 Emotional Connection subscale: __24_______ 13.Have your results changed at all since the beginning of term? Yes, my scores have changed, the numbers have increased on both the scales. This course certainly taught me a lot of things about handling the traffic on social media. At the end of the day social media can act as a live curriculum vitae and an individual can know many things
about us(Nai, 2915).Apart from it, social media solutions can be utilized for commercial purposes as well. My outlook on the role of social media has changed drastically. 14.Do you feel that you answered differently this time as a result of what you have learned in this course, why or why not? I answered differently, to be precise, I answered more evenly. Before becoming a member of this course I was not clear about my own social media personality.
