ASSIGNMENT ON NURSING PRACTICE._1

NURSING PRACTICE1
Nursing
Nursing is a practice in the field of science, which relates to the art of caring by
interconnection of the heart and mind devoted towards the care of the individual in need of it.
Devoted towards the work nurses in every field have their specific field of specialization with
specific skills, passion and expertise (Translation of Evidience into Nursing and Healthcare,
2020). However, the care does not only limit themselves to the area of providing care to the
people in need, but also show immense skills of critical thinking to dig out the proper
interventions when needed in emergency (ANA, 2020).
Georgia Board of Nursing (GBN) and Licensure status
The Georgia Board of Nursing is a community in the Georgia state of the United
States, which stand to deliver safety by promoting preservation of public health and welfare.
The process is regulated using proper legalization for the methods of practice of practical
health care by registered and professionally educated nurses. The Georgia State Board of
Nursing also holds the legalization to deliver license status for those who are registered under
National Council of State Board of Nursing (NCSBN) and practicing in the state of Georgia.
The GBN provides the license to the nurses through a program carrying out examination and
endorsement from other nation or sovereign states as well.
Moreover, the board allows the continuation of nursing practice by any qualified
individual as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). These qualities include APN
roles and prescriptive privileges and impact on client safety and care. In addition, the
licensure status supports nurses to practice as anesthetists, clinical specialists and midwives.
The licensure status also provides the nurses capability to apply for the examination
by NCSBN, provides license to practice in the state of Georgia after qualifying through a

successful examination, renewal of the license, which states the renewal status to practice as
an authorized APRN (Georgia Board of Nursing. 2019).
Differences between prescriptive authority, credentialing, and clinical privileges
Prescriptive Authority of a Registered Nurse helps them to take necessary calls at the
time of need without limiting them to a respective boundary. These calls include
administration of drugs, prescribing medicines, use of medical devices and instruments and
providing anesthesia. Thus, independent prescribing authority holds the key for the nurses to
deliver health care without being in the collaboration with any registered physician. On the
other hand, the credentialing describes the certification for a health care professional, which
approves them to work legally, and professionally as a Registered Nurse. Such credentialing
is only achieved when a nurse qualifies the examination under the norms of their
organization. By credentialing a nurse, the organization ensures that the health care
professional or the practitioner meets all the necessary requirements and the criteria to work
appropriately under the organization or any other region in the same state (Russell., 2012).
The clinical privileges of a registered nurse include in three certain phases of
preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative. The clinical privileges provides a registered
medical staff the authority towards their care giving service towards a certain patient with
critical case. Pre-operative privileges allows the nurse to interact with the patient and conduct
an interview session with them to understand the criticality of their situation. The intra-
operative phase allows the nurses to make the patients lay at the proper position and provides
the exposure to the patients along with the physicians which allows them to provide
anesthesia and dressing to the patients. Lastly, the post-operative phase provides nurses the
authority to perform care followed up after operations and intravenous drugs along with a
palliative care afterwards (UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI MEDICAL CENTER., 2020).
