INTRODUCTION
Human resources management is the process of hiring, recruiting, selecting, compensating,
managing and organizing the employees(Singh, 2016). It is designed to maximize the employee
performance and managing and using employees effectively also help to increase the
productivity or achieve the goal of the organization. Report will be determine an organization
like(Kingfisher). Kingfisher plc is one of Europe’s leading retailers based around three main
sectors - DIY, electrical and general merchandise. And report will be emphasis the purpose and
function of HRM. It will also include the recruitment methods that define the strength or
weakness. And study will lay about the different HR practices that affect the employee or
employer both also improving the employee relation. The report will determine the employee
legislation that is follow by company and also identify the different recruitment process that can
beneficial of the company for selecting the best candidate.

Purpose and the Functions of HRM
Recruitment and selection- Recruitment and selection is the process of selecting and obtaining
the best qualified person through internal or external sources. The purpose of HRM in the
kingfisher it is hiring the best person who are suitable for these job according to their
qualification. And help to achieve the future goal or objectives of the company or save the time
or money for finding some legal issue related the employees document and also help to increase
the pool of job at minimum cost.
Performance appraisal – performance appraisal is the process of to identify the strengths and
weaknesses of candidates to place the right person on right position. Also provide the feedback
regarding the performance of employee on the work place. Kingfisher is use these function for
purpose of increase the morale of the employee for providing the compensation, bonus,
promotion, extra benefit, allowances to increase the productivity in the work place. It is also
helped for the company to provide the future development programme(Becker, 2015).
Training and development – Training and development is the process for develop a new skills
and knowledge to the employee and increase the performance of the employee. Kingfisher
considers the training and development for the purpose of develop a new skills and knowledge in
the employee and also help to reduce the employee turnover or increase the motivation of the
employee or resulting is increase the financial gain.

business need. They can recruit only few number of employees when they required or needed.

follow these model for purpose to increase the performance of employee through training and
development, performance appraisal provide benefit compensation, bonus, promotion, extra
benefit to enhance the morale of employee. So these practice is help to the company for increase
the performance or productivity.
Best fit – best fit model is describe that HR strategy is suitable for the organization and in
different situations. So kingfisher use these practice for the purpose to operate their business
through different hr strategies like ( training and development, performance appraisal, job
analysis, ) and achieve the goal of the company. They can analyse the company need or
employee need. Kingfisher can use these model to fulfils the company or employees needs by
organizing, planning, directing,staffing or controlling.

dissatisfaction in their existing employee.
