INTRODUCTION
DRM (Deese, Roediger and McDermott) is a procedure in cognitive psychology that is
used to study false memory in humans. This procedure mainly involves oral presentation of a lost
of words that are related and then require that subject or individual on whom process is carried
out to remember as many words from list as possible ((Gatti, Vecchi and Mazzoni, (2021)). In
this result shows that subjects recall a related but absent word, this word is known as Lure.
Underlying mechanism of false memories is semantic activation. Activation of lures is automatic
and this is why reducing such effects require practitioner to reduce semantic activation. Other
than this, certain reasons that contribute to false memories include Trauma, depression and
stress. It is very important that practitioner is aware of different techniques that reduces DRM
false memories.
Aim:
The main aim of the article is to identify DRM error due to the function of visual imaginary and
list type.
The another aim is to analyse that whether imagery instruction depict false memories or not.
Methods and participants:
The experiment was conducted over a sample of 102 undergraduate students of South eastern
University.
Method:
A recall booklet was given to the students containing separate pages for of selected participants.
An imagery scale was also given at the bottom of each page. And before making presentation the
instructions was read by the reader which is also being displayed over the projector. As per the
instruction words will be presented over the projector. On every word an image need to be
created in the mind. When every thing was finished then projector will indicate recall and the
participants have to write down the words which they had remembered. After the words written
then the participants was asked that how easy for them to recall all those words. A 45-second
time was given to participants for recalling the list that was shown on projector and then the next
image and the list will be displayed. A set of 11 lists was being shown to the participants (Oliver,
Bays and Zabrucky, (2016). After the finishing of all the list a word search task was being asked
to complete.
