This paper looks at the notion of managing large scale events. Taking the Pyeognchang Winter Olympics of 2018 as a case study, the paper briefly fleshes out the complexities that are involved in managing and organizing an event of this scale, by analysing it through the lens of an event life-cycle. The paper also provides recommendations on three approaches that could be adopted to address the existence of Olympic structures after the Olympic Games have been concluded. The paper concludes on the inherent complications and risks of large scale event management, with the possibility of also being able to successfully organize it.
