Brief summary of the theory and progression in the field
The recent changes connected to the field of technology has led to technological
improvements in the 21st century. This has led to drastic transformation in the field of accounting
which is depicted as analogous in nature pertaining to its digitized package. These improvements
have further led to modernizing the accounting packages and systems which has been able to
create additional provision for the accounting tasks to be performed with more ease and
efficiency. The technological advancements are considered asper the concepts of cloud
computing and the accounting for the same was discussed and examined based on the
advancements in the field of technology. Accounting is examined in the corporate firms with the
development of the economy (Wang 2017). At present most of the organizations continue to
increase the spending over the information system along with the increasing budgetary
constraints. In addition to this, the competition and economic competitiveness has led to increase
in the cost of information. In general, it needs to be discerned that development in the field of
accounting is based on the virtue of the technology. This is seen to be required by the
organization with the need of the supporting decision system, knowledge and communication.
Therefore, the use of information system as per the requirement of the decision making is seen to
be relating to AIS (Ghadas et al. 2018).
Common themes/findings across the four articles
In order to relate the effect on accountant’s performance by virtue of technology-based
accounting software as per Westpac Bank in Australia is studied in terms of AIS adoption in the
Commercial Banks. The first theme relate to the study is applied with “Effects of Accounting
Information System Adoption on the Financial Performance of Commercial Bank in Nigeria”
which is a study conducted by Akanbi and Adewoye. This study has been able to suggest about

users for providing clarification for the accounting software as per the suitability of the
accounting and business needs. The impact of this study as per Westpac is seen with filling the
gap of manual accounting and use of appropriate accounting software (Wickramasinghe, Cooray
and Dissanayake 2017).
The selection of third article has been considered with the “Role of Computerized
Accounting In Banking Sector” which is a study conducted by Mahesh Daru. This study will be
conducive in presenting the various innovations which have taken place with the introduction of
the accounting software in banks and the same is applicable for Westpac Banking Corporation
(Daru 2015).
The fourth article is considered with Assessing “The Impact Of Computerized
Accounting System Usage On Organization Performance In Tanzania: Case Study On Lgas
In Arusha Region”. This is a study is conducted by Adelisa Anaeli. The implication considered
with this study will be useful in depicting the organization performance in LGA`s relating to the
use of accounting software (Anaeli 2018).

The findings of the first article has stated that the commercial banks in Nigeria is
identified to adopt and use AIS the services pertaining to provide their services to the customers
and level of usage is significantly high. Such findings have implied that AIS adoption is
positively with the performance indicators ROCE, ROTA, GPM and NOP with α<0.05.
Therefore, the overall implication of this study has recommended that the commercial banks of
Nigeria should incorporate more of AIS into their banking system (Omicsonline.org 2018).

allowed the banks in maximizing profits. These are mainly the results of faster and accurate data
processing and ability of the management in meeting the decision-making functions. The
managerial implications as per the fourth study has suggested that government needs to
capitalize more on the use of accounting software which is updated as per the variations of the
technology. This is seen to be useful in achieving higher performance for the company (Atar and
Birman 2017).
Limitations and future research direction proposed in the four articles
The limitation of the first article is seen with assessment of the finical performance of the
commercial banks only with the use of ratios such as ROCE, ROTA, GPM and NOP. Therefore,
the changes in other ratios such as Tier 1 capital and Tier 2 ratios are not applicable. The overall
limitation of the second article can be seen with fundamental problem of decision making
process. The various types of the other possible dimensions such as contribution in the growing
profits and increasing customer based has not been addressed in this study. The third study has
suggested that the various types of the limitations of this study is directly related to the
increasing cost of implementation of this model, complexity and time taken for training and
implementing accounting software among all peripherals. The similar limitations are also seen to
