Introduction
Good engineering practice ensures that execution of new equipment is very common in every
business sectors that need to be maintained by competent engineers. Engineers play an essential
role in sustainable development and mitigating global challenges such as rapid population
growth, depletion of resources, and damage to the ecosystem, and environmental pollution. In
my perspective, engineering achievements were maintained without concerning their influence
on economic, environmental, and social-natural systems. I am concern about our planet, which
are facing problems and expected to increase in the future. They need to revisit their mindset
and embrace a new mission statement in order to contribute towards the equitable, sustainable,
and stable world (Becker et al., 2016). In the following, an effort has been made to discuss the
engineers’ roles as well as responsibilities to maintain sustainable development. In addition, the
discussion has also been made on sharing information and documentation with everyone.
Learning Outcome 3: Explain the engineer roles and responsibilities to generate
sustainable development
What?
Sustainability is defined as a characteristic of a process that can be managed at a specific level.
It tends to better engineering practice such as generating the level for the air quality standards to
improve the quality of life for the people. It is a process to decision making generating the
interrelation and influences of social, environmental, and economic aspects of future
generations. Therefore, I defined sustainability engineering effective, as there is a need to
replace existing innovative technologies in the future to transform the industries and prevent the
environment. In simple words, the process generates influence on the generation and
environment in the future, which can satisfy their needs and expectations. The concept of
sustainability can be best illustrated by the procedure to design an operating system in the
business that can never impact the environment. Therefore, because of the rapid utilization of
technology in the manufacturing procedure, the environment often influenced. It is very
important for engineers to utilize new technology that can enhance productivity by generating
the sustainability of the environment. In respect to engineer, it is my prime responsibility is to
utilize resources and energy in an effective manner (Poff et al., 2016).
So What?
I identified that maintaining sustainable values and achieving them is the important aspects of
the development of the engineer. It positively impacts in the manner that it generated trust as the
need to keep promises and integrity, which is the basis of motivating them. I have also
recognized that I need to be fair with every team member so that they also always listen to you

and does not blame you in critical conditions of ethical conflict and solution can be generated
despite being rigid in matter of opinion. As the projects develop, the engineer can become
engaged in the regional as well as local activities where their knowledge and understanding and
knowledge might be important for sound decision making (Broman and Robèrt, 2017).
I have also identified negative impacts in the manner that engineer pay less attention to the
people needs and preferences as well as does not increases efficiency so that people can utilize
their time to meet their needs, which negatively impacts the ecological services they require.
They also generate less improvement in an integrated framework of material, man, and machine
form the utilization of local technological standard, which they can use towards sustainable
development. So, it is very important for generating ecological innovation, green economy, and
automated technologies, which is significantly nowadays (Rao and Tilt, 2016).
What else?
So, I have identified various roles and responsibilities while working with my team on the
project. I am pleased to identify the problems as well as risk, which are associated with the
project. Various student engineers have defined their roles as well as responsibilities for
effective learning and development. I also have to understand the purpose and aim of the team
project in order to build, maintain, design, operate, plan, and manufacture consistent changes. I
need to cooperate with the team members to build motivation and make sure they maintain
effective communication in the project. I understand sustainability in the method of the
operating and designing framework, which utilizes energy and resources in a sustainable
manner (Bosselmann, 2016). For example, I maintain three core standards, which are fidelity,
honesty, and self-discipline, which have an influence in which manner I live and work. I am
very thankful to the employees in gaining trust from the public. Through honesty, I exercise
fairness and truthfulness, and sincerity in each activity. Self-discipline assists me to direct
reasonably and maintain engagement in every aspect. Through fidelity, it motivates to maintain
strong brand engagement towards other employees.

Currently, I have discovered that some responsibilities are integrated with management and
other functions, which have analyzed the customer needs recommending an effective solution to
them.

Learning Outcomes 4: Managing Information and documentation
What?
During the research, I have identified that Information sharing is an important aspect when it
comes to teamwork, participation, and cooperation. It is stated that the internet is day-by-day
becoming a significant part of engineer and several other people. It is more appropriate to
constantly utilize social media platforms like WhatsApp, electronic mails and Skype, which can
be used to share and manage information to every member so that we can change with the
world. While doing documentation also, I have analyzed that several measures can be
implemented, which enhances the information and documentation with best measures. They can
also generate more and more files by naming and collecting data in a well-organized way. It can
also be done with the help of reviewing records, creating folders, naming the folders, and
separating ongoing as well as completed activities in an appropriate manner to each team
member. I have also identified that all the members operate on the recent version of the
document can be maintained by some measured involving a revision numbering system and
member can also decide on implementing the solution (Nicholas and Steyn, 2017).
So What?
I have identified that managing information and documentation that stores, captures, and
retrieves electronic documents can deliver several benefits. It enhances the security of the
document that provides effective control over sensitive documents for diverse people. It is
stated that managing documents are highly traceable, which can allow for automated alerts. It
also enhances regulatory compliance, which is resulted in revoked licenses and fines. With data
management system, collaboration, cooperation, and information sharing can be a bit easier. It
also delivers greater visibility to business processes and automation (DeLone and McLean,
2016).
Challenges also occur along with positive aspects as several members are engaged in the work
and the minor error in managing needs is costlier and time-consuming. It is stated that the faulty
version probably offers the wrong file and impacts the reputation of an engineer. They need to
share the information appropriately as many people misuse it and do not benefit society.
However, they need to develop the changes with the help of automated system and make sure
that proper information is to be shared and work collaboratively in the recent version of the
document (Hajli and Lin, 2016).

What else?
It is stated that there are various members of the team so there are several processes that the
team direct to manage information and make sure that each individual work on the most recent
document. Each employee is obliged to take an effort in managing information depend upon
several criteria set by the team. For example, the team should maintain the systematic sharing
process in order to attain a sustainable economy. To begin with this, the team members utilize
this procedure to locate with each team member. The members of the team should be very
cautious while sharing private information as they employ judgment to make sure that private
information is protected sustainably. They should follow policies in utilizing the systematic
sharing procedure as they must have adequate information and identify the motive of disclosing
information (Heikkilä et al., 2015).
What Now?
Systematic sharing information incorporates sharing and managing of information through an
agreement between the team members. It is quite evident that in the agreement of sharing
information, it is clear that all needs are fulfilled depending upon the request. The information
can be shared by utilizing the telephone, address, or E-mail for a team member. I have identified
that when the team manages bulk information and documentation, they need to consider the
Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) to make sure regarding the privacy of team members. PIA is
used to identify the risks, which might incorporate the project effectively and costs are reduced.
Each team member must be pleased with the information before it is managed by the intended
person. The information sharing procedures make sure that it is efficient and protected so that
every team member conducts their function effectively and efficiently. It is well reviewed to
make sure that it regulates with the shareholder rules (García-Holgado, García-Peñalvo and
Rodríguez-Conde, 2015).

Learning Outcomes 5: Effective Communication
What?
Communication is an important part of teamwork as this enhances performance and
productivity. In a recent version, e-mail is the effective medium of communication within a
team as this is a quick process, which gives clear messages to every people. I believe that it is
slightly difficult to provide complete information in verbal communication, which is not
suitable for professional communication (Greenaway et al., 2015).
So What?
I stated that the success and growth of any teamwork based upon the way information is
managed and shared. I identified that keeping information in a sound manner and professional
respects the privacy and excites the team members, which is very significant for every engineer.
It has also negative impacts as if communication is not effective then it results in lower
productivity, morale becomes low, and even legal complaints (Moorthy et al., 2016).
What else?
E-mail is the most productive way of communicating efficiently with the shareholders (Zeng,
Zhang and Lim, 2016). I conveyed an e-mail to a team facilitator as shown below-
Dear facilitator,
I have read a posting that the team members need a Project manager to help them in the project.
It is stated that significantly, I have worked with several technological institutions as a project
manager and I am quite sure that I will have a positive impact on the team project. My
experience best fit for the qualifications you are seeking for the team project. I have excelled in
establishing and maintaining the effective practices, make sure that there is a success in the
project, manage complex projects, and contribute to decision-making. I have a strong
educational background so I request to look at my resume and reflect me as the Project manager
for the team.
Thank You
It is stated that the above mail makes effective communication, which is consistent, confident,
and clear as it provides respect and recognition to the facilitator. I have offered an instance of an
unprofessional email below, which is ungrateful and least attractive (Kanadasan and Razak,
2015).
Dear facilitator,
I have seen your distresses that you require a Project Manager and I have the competencies that
are required in it. I know that you need a degree holder so that the project can be conducted

project. I feel gratified that I have written mail to you and looking forward to the reply
concerning full information about my role and responsibilities in the team project.
What Now?
It is quite depicted from the above mail that it is full of mockery and unprofessional. It is not
clear and not conveying respect & recognition. This Email does not represent effective
communication and professional language is not being utilized. As stated above, effective
communication involves that it should be confident, clear, consistent, and respect, which is not
depicted in the E-mail above. It is clear that people should learn to communicate suitably with
the help of effective mediums as E-mail in order to generate the stability and prosperity of the
entire world (Kembro, Näslund and Olhager, 2017).
Conclusion
In conclusion, I stated that the development of the modern world has been dominated by the
engineering, technology, & science and the role, needs, and responsibilities of the engineer are
associated closely to the preferences of society. In the above, the discussion has been made on
the engineers’ roles & responsibilities in order to generate sustainable development. The 21st
century will be determined by some of the vast challenges, which is dealing with humanity. The
request for engineering capabilities is probable to be higher than ever before to offer sustainable
engineering practices as they need to provide strong physical infrastructure, energy
technologies, and minimize damage to prevent the environment. They also need to provide
effective communication with a range of shareholders.
