As per Wong et al. (2015), autism is primarily a developmental
disorder that affects the development of brain and eventually affects
the ability of the affected individual to perceive any critical situation
or socialize with others for effective communication.
Further, it was noted that due to improper development of human
brain, in this critical situation, affected individuals shows repetitive
and limited behavior pattern and hence, their functionality in different
activities and areas of life reduces (Baio et al. 2018).
As per Christensen et al. (2018), autism is a spectrum of disorders and
manifestation of these disorders affects individuals differently and
hence, the effect if this disease is observed differently in different
individual.

for the assessment, 5 autistic children with their parents were
involved.
While working with children affected with autism spectrum
disorder, it is important to assess the mental and cognitive ability
of the children affected with the disorder.
Further, the social- emotional profile of the disorder was
developed and assessed with the application of Childhood
Autism Rating Scale so that their level of wellbeing could be
assessed.
Hence, in this case study, all the means which could be used for
the assessment of the gap present in the care process.

The primary research was conducted in the area of identification of
literatures that indicated towards the application of healthcare
intervention to mitigate the gap present in the study.
As per Nicholas et al. (2016), inclusion of family centered care and
application of healthcare literacy for the parents was found to be
the most effective care intervention for the improvement of the
autistic syndrome.
This poster provided detailed knowledge of the autism spectrum
disorder and provided the degree of complication it causes to the
patients affected with this syndrome.
In this aspect, the poster mentioned the gap present in the care
process and hence, it was assessed through a detailed literature
search and primary research of the paper. A case study was also
assessed so that identification of the complication and gap could
be assessed.
Further, the type of intervention that was used for the elimination
of present gap has been mentioned in this poster.
Introduction Primary research
Literature review
As mentioned, autism is a spectrum disorder due to which the
occurrence of disorder affects the individual differently. the gap
in autism care is associated with a collaboration between the
family members, healthcare professionals, educators and social
services (Sohl, Mazurek and Brown 2015).
This gap affects the healthcare achievement of patients. further
due to the complex healthcare needs in the care process of
autism (Walsh, Jones and Schonwald 2017).
Hence, it required effective care and vigilance so that patients
could be provided with effective care.
As per Schreibman et al. (2015), application of patient and family
centered interventions was effective in improving the autism
condition of the patient and it was seen that majority of the
patients were able to improve their cognitive abilities.
Another researchers indicated to the fact that cognitive strengths
and mental strength of the affected individual was increased with
effective promotional and developmental literacy sessions. Hence,
this was an effective interventions for the growth (Borgi et al.
2016).
