Question 1:
The International Air Transport Association has recommended all the air carriers that
they must have an emergency plan to deal with all the public health emergencies. Majority of the
air craft carriers have the emergency response plan in place and are practiced broadly. The
emergency response plan (ERP) required for the identification of the broad terms that are used to
prepare the public health emergency; it also provides the checklists that must be built into the
public health emergency plan (Iata.org).
The key aspects of ERP and it importance for the Airlines/Airports are as follows:
Low insurance premium
Reassurance and peace of mind
Sustainability of the high standards of security and safety
Maintaining a positive brand recognition
Better understanding of the responsibilities and roles
Minimization of the threats of prosecution
Meeting regulations and legal compliance
The IATA strongly recommends that all the aircrafts must establish an ERP plan for the
carriers that do not have an emergency plan (Iata.org).
Question 2:
On the December 20, 2008 a Continental Flight numbered 1404 prepared to take off from
the Denver International Airport. The accident occurred around 06:18PM. It is important to note
to that the Denver was experiencing a winter weather and cold breeze was blowing. The flight
had 110 passengers with 5 crew flight members. The accident occurred when the airline veered

off the runway. The plane crashed into the snow covered field and fire started to spread the right
side of the aircraft (jems.com).
Response to the accident: Red alert was issued after the occurrence of the accident. Three
separate teams of paramedics set out for the crash site and they were escorted. There were earlier
communications that a small aircraft was associated with an accident which experienced no
crash, but still the Federal Aviation Administration Tower reported that a large aircraft was
crashed and it was engulfed by fire. After the paramedics approached the crash site, the
passengers already escaped the crashed aircraft and after securing the perimeter, the ARFF4
firefighting apparatus used foam to douse the flames emanating from the burning aircraft. The
injured and traumatized passengers were taken into the nearby fire station because the weather
was cold and the seriously injured patients were taken into the casualty collection points in the
fire station (jems.com).
Question 3:
Introduction- The purpose of the document is to provide an executive summary of the by
ICAO titled 2018 Safety Report. It will be consisting of the key insights and highlights that are
currently present in the airline industry.
Summary of the global accident statistics- the global accident rates have been recorded
and the accidents were measured in accidents per million departures. In the year 2013, there were
2.9 accidents in one million departures, and it was followed by 3 (2014), 2.8 (2015), 2.1 (2016),
and 2.4 (2017). The rate of 2.1 accidents in the year 2017 is one of the lowest over the span of 5
years. High number of accidents have occurred in the RASG-PA with as high as 47 accidents
occurring out of the 88 accidents occurring around the world. The highest category of the
