Initial Reaction of Station Manager
The given situation has described that before the departure of one of the flights from
Nadi, Fiji, the security checks has found out a serious fault in the system as the flight is out-
of-trim (Cusick, Cortes & Rodrigues, 2017). The load control department of the flight
checking department has discovered the following faults and has thus advised to offload
some cargo as well as at least 10 passengers to ensure the safety of the flight. The situation in
such a case will be a problem as because the renewed tasks will take a long time and will
cause a minimum of 2 hour delay to the flight to take off (Stolzer, 2017). The station manager
of Nadi (NAN) station has thus his task cut out to handle the situation as well as ensure the
handling of the passengers in a strategic and calm manner.
After the news of such a failure, the manager must visit the carrier on his own and
judge the problem. He will be the one to decide upon the fate of the flight. The decision will
have to be taken as early as possible as because air traffic is very high in Nadi. According to,
Helmreich & Merritt (2017) the departure handling must be checked in and the carrier must
be checked in a number of times after adjusting the trimming activities. The flight must be
given the permission to depart once all the aspects of safety have been checked. The safety
check helps to assure the safety and security of the flight.
Way to handle the situation
The station manager of the Nadi Airport has to take charge of the situation. First of all
the station manager has to get a clear idea of the reason behind the flight’s trimming error and
address the same in a proper manner. The station manager has to make sure that the selection
of the passengers be done in a non-biased manner (Helmreich & Merritt, 2017). According
to, Albers et al. (2017) the passengers must be arranged into the next flight that travels to the
same destination and without any delay. It is important for the station manager to take care of
