INTRODUCTION
Dental implants refers to metal posts or frames that are surgically positioned into the
jawbone beneath gums of an individual. It includes that dental implants are like artificial roots,
similar in shape of screws. However, the dental implants bond with natural bone when they get
implanted in the jawbone. They become a sturdy base for supporting one or more artificial teeth
which are known as crowns1. It is observed that dental implants can be considered as the only
dental restoration option that provide help in order to preserve natural bone along with actually
stimulate the growth of bone. The dental implants consist three option such as removable dental
appliance (complete or partial denture), fixed dental bridge (cemented) and dental implant.
Meanwhile, it is analysed that dentures can be considered as most affordable option in
terms of replacement teeth but they are the least desirable due to inconvenience of removable
appliance of mouth. Furthermore, it has been evaluated that dentures re responsible for affecting
taste of an individual and sensory experience of different types of food items. The dental
bridgework is considered as most restorative option as priority to relatively recent shift to
treatment of dental implant. People are aware about the dental implants but some of individuals
void the same due to fear of pain and other related complications. It is observed that patients
accept dental implants but it is necessary for a dentist to provide proper information to them to
motivating them to prefer the same for their welfare.
1.1 Reference of actuality
Oral implantalogy can be considered as well established sub specially of restorative
dental as well as oral surgery. It involves the loss of natural teeth that is connected with
functional, cosmetic and psychological morbidities since antiquity. However, the dental implant
can be described as an artificial implant that is surgically inserted into jawbone in order to
support a single tooth replacement, fixed partial or complete denture or maxillofacial prosthesis.
People are aware about few of aspects related to dental implanted but it is really necessary to
make them properly aware regarding specific tooth implantation process including the procedure

and it benefits2. It is very important to remove wrong perception of citizens regarding dental
implantation which impacts on the process and it results as well.
The present investigation will focus on level of awareness of people and their actual
thoughts regarding the concept of dental implantation. It involves that fact behind avoiding
dental implants by people and important of convincing them by providing information through
dentists respectively. However, it is essential to provide proper knowledge and importance of
dental implants to people in order to promote acceptance of the same. It is necessary for citizens
to accept the implantation of dentures when required because it is essential to improve quality of
life. Moreover, it is observed that few of individuals avoid this dental treatment due to having
fear of extreme pain.
1.2 Structure of the academic paper
The given academic paper includes number of main chapter including introduction,
theoretical background, data collection & analysis and conclusion. Initially, introduction focus
on introduction of dental implants including reference of actuality and structure of report with
the help of discussing about the main concept. It involves about awareness of people regarding
dental implantations as well as acceptance of the same in present scenario which is required to
promote in order to improve quality of lives. Meanwhile, theoretical background consist detailed
description of awareness and acceptance of people towards implantation of dentures due to
wrong perceptions and fear of severe pain3. It involves the criteria of motivating people by
removing their inappropriate thoughts and make them feel that dental implants are essential for
them to facilitate proper life. In addition to this, theoretical background consist the critical
discussion of specific research design and analysis of collected information with the help of
taking response regarding awareness and acceptance of dental implants in people with their own
reasons behind the same. It includes hypothesis testing of the given topic to determine level of
awareness of people about dental implants. At last but not the least, conclusion consist overall
summary of analysed facts and discussion carried in the whole paper.

THEORETICAL BACKGROUND
2.1 Awareness of dental implants among people
Dental implant treatment is more popular treatment option which is has high success rate.
Dentist is the vital assess knowledge level regards to the dental implants4. Loss of the natural
teeth is kind of health problem which is associated with psychological, cosmetic and functional
morbidities since antiquity. Different attempts made to replace dentition with artificial teeth
which is lost and it resemble to natural teeth in appearance and function. Dental implants are
broadly accepted as prosthetic treatment of partially or completely edentulous patients. It led to
widespread popularity and acceptance of dental implants within people and dental professional
community. Awareness level of dental implant treatment differs among many different countries.
Public acceptance and awareness of dental implants found high at present than the past.
In many European countries such as United kingdom have 46% prevalence of
edentulism, there are so any people who do not know about this practice. Many factors which are
involved in selecting restorative options for the dental implant like low income and less
education tend to have bad or poor dental status, in some areas people do not take such
treatments because they do not know about it5. People who have poor financial status like
deprivation and poverty may not able to get dental implant as they can not afford it. Older people
who are not habitual with wearing dentures may not be interested in implant treatment. Some
individuals have fear of pain, social embarrassment and complication are reason to refuse dental
implant in patients. Awareness in individuals who are not getting proper knowledge about dental
implant have to be provided enough knowledge so that people can understand why it is required.
Making aware people about dental implant is important so that they can take treatment and care
for their teeth.
Education: Education related to dental implant is essential to make aware people who do
not know about it. Certain programmes and camps can be organized in schools and public places
which provide well knowledge about the treatment. If people will know that this treatment is

important for their teeth, it will make easy to get care. There are some peoples who are not aware
about types of treatment, in that case they can be explained about treatment and how it will work
for them6. Awareness and knowledge have some barriers like economic status, general health
circumstances and education. All these barriers can be overcome by making dental practice more
effective. Dentists and their associate workers have to make people understand that this treatment
can better their teeth and replace it by using artificial which looks like natural teeth.
Certain rural areas in which people do not get good awareness about dental implants so
they may not be able to get treatment if they want to due to lack of knowledge. Dental nurses and
practitioners has to organize some programmes related to awareness it can be helpful for all the
individual so utilization of dental practices and dental implant will increase in order to provide
services to general public.
2.2 Acceptance of dental implants among people
The acceptance of dental implants is more easy to people and facilities that has history of
such implantation because they know about actual procedures and benefits of the same. It is
observed that people have a fear of extreme pain in gums at the time of conducting whole
process due to which they did not easily accept such dental implants. The dental implants are
favourable for people if they have a problem in teeth for improving quality of lives7. It involves
the utilisation of dental implants in respect of replacing missing teeth that becomes more popular
due to their benefits including good chewing efficiency and preservation of natural teeth.
However, it is the procedure which is required to be carrying out with careful diagnosis
and treatment in terms of gaining accurate patient outcomes. In addition to this, it has been
analysed aged people are increasing demand of dental implants in terms of replacing missing
teeth. It involves the fact that the complexity of treatment care plan in context of mature patient
is more than other people and implies biological, clinical as well as socio economic criteria is
much more difficult8. Moreover, the trend of using implants is aged people, plan of treatment is

required to deal with issues of sick individuals face with an advancing age such as difficulties in
cleaning teeth, chronic diseases and reduced income.
Acceptance of dental implantations is very difficult in children because they have more
fear of pain and instrument used by dentist. It is needed to provide them a kind of counselling in
order to motivate them in respect of convincing them to take this treatment for improving their
oral condition more comfortable and increase their quality of life. Meanwhile, it involves the fact
that acceptance of dental implants depends upon level of knowledge of people due to which they
make decision to prefer this treatment or not. However, it is necessary to encourage information
level of people so that people can understand the importance of implanting dentures.
There are several reasons behind rejection of people towards dental implants in which
major one is dental implant failure. It includes number of factors which are responsible for
implant failure including gum disease, smoking, insufficient jaw bone, medical conditions, poor
dental maintenance, an experience surgeon and many more. However, the early dental implant
failure consist infection at the implant site, implant micro movements, insufficient bone support,
allergic reactions and failure to follow guidelines of doctors. At the other other hand, some of
long term complications are evaluated which results into failure of dental implants. Firstly, it
includes nerve or tissue damage that may take place when a surgeon places an implant too close
to the nerve which results into symptoms like numbness or tingling in tongue, lips, gums or face.
Secondly, it includes foreign body rejection doesn't not occur often but an happen when body do
not accept an implant which facilitate signs including increased pain at implant site, swelling,
fever and chills9. Thirdly, it involve a dental implant placed in upper jaw may protrude into the
sinus activity. Moreover, an injury to area surrounding a dental implant may loosen the implant
which results into failure. The fact of affordability also plays an important role in terms of
acceptance of dental implants. People reject such treatments ff the expense is not in budget of
their regular income or they are not capable to afford the same.
DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
3.1 Critical evaluation of research design
Research design is most essential part of project because each activities of research is
depend of them. This part of methodology is mainly classified into three parts which is

descriptive, experimental and exploratory. All these are important but according to the topic,
descriptive design more suitable because it will help a researcher in driving valid conclusion
about the topic10. Major benefit of descriptive design as in this surveys can be followed by
companies to study in beliefs, behaviours, habits and attitudes of members of company or a
target audience. On the other hand, in descriptive design, findings may be open to interpretation.
3.2 Definition of responding group
It is another important part in which respondents will be selected through sampling
methods. Probabilistic and non-probabilistic are consider as a two type of sample method which
will help a researcher to select sample size from out of population. For this project, random
sampling method as a type of probabilistic sampling will be used because it not require
maximum time, resources and cost of an organisation11. Along with this, responding group refers
as a type of group which includes different members to answer particular question of study.
Therefore with the help of random sampling, 50 respondents will be taken into consideration.
anjali.y3.3 Analysis of collected data
The analysis of data collection can be described as to study the overall collected
information which is required to be analysed in render to find out real facts and findings in
proper manner. It involves the study of awareness and acceptance of dental implants among
people along with reasons behind rejection of such treatment of individuals.

3.4 Hypothesis testing
Hypothesis testing is applied to infer the output of a hypothesis or concept executed on
sample data from a bigger population. Main role and purpose of this test is to measure and
examine a random sample of total population being analysed12. It is consider one of the best
method which will help a researcher to analysis opinion of respondents about the topic. For
example: According to this topic, there are two types of hypothesis such as H0 and H1. Accurate
awareness and Acceptance of Dental Implants is H1 hypothesis whereas no awareness and
Acceptance of Dental Implants is H1 hypothesis.
CONCLUSION
From the above mentioned information, it has been concluded Awareness and
Acceptance of Dental Implants. More than half of the population are aware about the concept of
of dental implants because it is a biggest topic. There are different factors that impact dental
implant success such as Gum disease, smoking and medical conditions.
