Barack Obama is one of the greatest President of the United States of America.
He belonged to the Democratic Party (Jones & Cox, 2018).
B. Background info:
Obama gave a speech in the year 2008 known as the Democratic National
Convention keynote speech.
Background info:
In this speech he talked about his own biography and the vision he held for the
country of the United State of America.
Thesis statement:
This essay seeks to analyze the various symbolic words and phrases said by the
future President of the United States of America.

C. Topic sentence: This paragraph tries to analyze the nature of the United States of
America through the eyes of its future President that is Barack Obama.

1. Passage: ‘The November election is the party's "chance to keep, in
the 21st century, the American promise alive,"’ (Kellner, 2016)
a. Interpretation: Through this line. Barack Obama tried to show to
the audience that the United States of America does not only
belong to one culture of people. It is a multi-cultural nation state
where people from all over the world migrate with the purpose of
finding a better life opportunity. Moreover, he considered America
to be ‘land of Lincoln’ who fought bravely against the issue of
slavery, bringing it to an end. This signified the aspect of
‘freedom’ that is guaranteed by the state to all its citizens (Patton,
2016).
II. Body Paragraph 2
A. Topic/transition sentence: In this paragraph, the state of birth of Obama has been
shown.
1. Passage: ‘Four years ago, I stood before you and told you my story
— of the brief union between a young man from Kenya and a
young woman from Kansas who weren't well-off or well-known,
but shared a belief that in America, their son could achieve
whatever he put his mind to’. (Kreiss, Meadows & Remensperger,
2015)
