Part 3 Answer:
1. Proxy server: A proxy server acts as a gateway between the user and the internet. It
acts as a wall that separates the end users from the websites they are surfing. A proxy
server can be used to give the user various different levels of privacy, functionality
and security based on the policy of the user’s company. In the current state of our
world, a proxy server can both be used as a filter for the web and also as a security
firewall. The proxy server can also be used to make quicker response to ordinary
requests by sharing and catching network connections.
2. The three important features of the Z11PAU12/10G-2S mother board are:
Basic Computer Hardware_5
5BASIC COMPUTER HARDWARE
a) Mass storage: The mass storage used by the server motherboard has multiple
extra places to add additional hard drives to the system. This is much more
advanced than the current laptop I am using. The ASUS server mother board has a
capacity to handle up to 4 hard disk drives along with a solid state drive or SSD
space. The overall storage quantity is increased a lot due to the support of the 4
hard disk drives compared to my laptop’s single hard disk space which supports
only 1 hard disk. The SSD increases the server system’s speed a lot.
b) CPU: The CPU socket used in the Z11PAU12/10G-2S server motherboard
supports the latest Intel based Xeon processors from the SkylakeSP product group.
These processors are generally used in server systems and are capable of handling
tremendous load. The processor used in my laptop is the Intel core i5 8250U 8th
gen processor which is designed for lower loads than the server processors.
c) Peripheral expansion: The biggest benefit of using this motherboard is the
number of extra devices that is supported by this motherboard and can be attached
to this motherboard. The board supports up to 2 fully dedicated graphics card slot
(x16) and two small x8 peripheral card slots which can be utilised for
LAN/Audio/VGA cards. Another massive advantage of using this board is that it
supports up to 12 RAM slots each supporting maximum 64GB per slot. This is
huge compared to the single dedicated graphics card and 8GB RAM supported by
my laptop.
