1 Introduction Business communications are utilized by the organizations and their employees to share their concepts and issues. A business could not stand without the efficient use of communication among its employees and most of the businesses also rely on efficient communicationwiththeircustomers.Effectivecommunicationmightdeterminethe successandfailuresofanyorganizations.Itisessentialtomakesurethat communication among its employees is smooth, especially the communication between the employees and their managers. The paper will analyze the theories and practice of business communications. It will also evaluate the importance of those theories to business communications. Theories and Practice of Business Communications I came to know that through the use of various traditional methods, we can easily find out different methods of effective business communications. These methods are called theories of business communications. These theories of business communications show usthepathtomakestrategiesforbusinesses.Themaintheoriesofbusiness communications learned throughout the trimester are the critical theory, information theory, groupware theory, and post-positive theory. I understood that the critical theory impliesthatthenaturalstateofany business is conflict andcommunications are important to solve it. The information theory states to confirm the information with less mistakes to the businesses. The groupware theory implies that traditional methods of businesscommunicationsmightchangewiththefastdevelopmentoftechnology (Andrews, 2017). The post-positive theory states that maintaining orders is the natural circumstanceofanybusinessesforsmoothbusinesscommunications(Lucasand Rawlins, 2015). I have learned that efficient business communications are the key to every business to move forward. Each staff of a company is likely to follow the rules fixed for them. It makes the ideal structure for the company where the staffs can feel comfortable to work. Itisalsoessentialtounderstandthatthecompanymakesawiseselectionof communication channels since these channels create a culture for the businesses (Brink and Costigan, 2015). If the cultures are fixed casually, it indicates the performance of the
2 business is less successful, and for a successful performance, it is vital to implement efficient business communications in organizations (Zerfass and Viertmann, 2017). I have got the knowledge that the most significant practice in business communications is to have clear messages. Most of the times the communicators of business uses lots of technical terms and jargons in their messages that sometimes the employees could not understand the meaning of the messages (Goel and Sunena, 2018). Another practice is to sell benefits that the improvement of the external and internal clients through various concepts. The communicators of business could not afford to communicate utilizing only one channel. Importance of those Theories to Business Communications I have understood that critical theory states that business communication helps to solve the conflicts, prevent issues between team members, motivate staffs to perform better andprovideguidancetounifytheemployeesforacommontargetwithinthe organizations. I have also learned that business communications through information theory focus to fix communication and take measures for proper interactions. I came to know that groupware theory focuses on business communications with the help of mobiles and computers so that the information can reach the organizations before wanted by the management. I have gathered knowledge that business communications under post-positive theory focus on business communications created to make the employees obey the rules and work together smoothly. Discussion on the Performance My learnings reveals that the more efficient the method of communication, the better is the relationships between employees and the managers.I have faced several issues, one of the issues was working and collaborating within a diverse group (Simon, 2019). It was extremely challenging, particularly when I have counter-productive individuals in my group.I had experienced this on many circumstances, and it was like struggling in a battle. I have performed better all through the semester. When I had to deal with counter- productive individuals in my group those who are extremely difficult to handle, it was
3 essential for me to reorganize my team; otherwise I had to face several other issues. I indulged in the interpersonal communications to manage my team. I used to think that I am not good at communicating my ideas. But this unit taught me that I could perform well with the help of better communication skills although I came to know that personal limitations are one of the significant issues in interpersonal communications in the business context. Reflection on Learnings MylearningsreflectsthatIhavegainedknowledgethatefficientbusiness communications are more than only sending and getting messages and also one of the traits of leaders of business. With this semester, I came to know about the differences betweeninformalandformalcommunicationprocesses.Itisnecessarythatthe meetings of the office must take place in the formal working atmosphere (Penrose, 2015). Before this semester, I only have little idea about the differences between the informal and formal communication processes. This semester helped me to provide deepinsightsintotheconceptsofbetweeninformalandformalcommunication processes. I still need to work on my communication skills for more efficiency. It has become one of my priorities, and I want to use those skills in real life scenarios as I found it useful for real-lifesituations.Itisimportanttouseseveralcommunicationchannelsto communicate, and each of the channels must be optimized in accordance with the needs of businesses (Veltsos, 2017). I will further work on my weaknesses and will utilize several theories that will help in boosting my overall communication procedure. Conclusion The paper analyzed the theories and practice of business communications. It evaluated the importance of those theories to the business communications. It also reflected on the performance and learnings from the trimester. To conclude, business communications are definitely an extremely difficult concept to hold and thoroughly explore through theoreticalmethods.ManagementandincorporationofdifferentHRactivitiesare possible due to an efficient method of communication in the organizations that help to exchange and share various concepts.
