1BEAUTY THERAPY
Client Profile:
My client Hannah Stevenson is a beautiful 20 year old student who is pursuing a career as
a beauty therapist and at present is enrolled in the Elite International School of beauty. Hannah
devotes 8 hours on weekdays to attend her classes and occasionally visits clients for treatment at
their residence. She stays with her sister who is pursuing a course in nursing and visits her
parents on Christmas. She originally hails from Singapore and her life is extremely hectic as she
has to manage her academic career and manage all the household responsibilities being the elder
sister. Also, on account of stretched shift hours, her sister is not able to help her with the house-
hold responsibilities.
Hannah leads an active lifestyle where she tries her best to balance her academic and
personal life perfectly. This means that she has little time to devote to herself and care for her
body and mind. She wakes up at 6 AM every morning and after managing the entire day can
finally goes to bed at 11 PM. This means she only gets rest for approximately 7 hours. This
makes Hannah crave for sleep and takes a toll on her health. In order to combat her exhaustion
and maintain strong physiological body functioning Hannah consumes Iron supplements.
Hannah has no other health related complaints and consumes no other medication.
Hannah likes to balance her academic and personal life and she does this by devoting
ample amount of time to everything. She puts in her best effort by taking into consideration the
wishes of her sister and her family members while taking any decision. Hannah’s weekly meal
plan is illustrated as under:

Upon closely analyzing Hannah’s active lifestyle, it can be mentioned that her skin is
exposed to harsh extremes of temperature on a daily basis. While she is attending her classes, her
skin is exposed to an air conditioned class environment for 6 to 7 hours at a stretch. Finally when
she is done with her classes she has to travel home using a public transport after walking for a
considerable distance. This exposes her skin to scorching head and pollution which is again
unhealthy for her skin. The extreme changes in the environmental temperature could dehydrate
her skin and leave it dry. On the other hand, the harsh UV rays could lead to blemishes and
accelerate the process of ageing. Also, the makeup Hannah wears for long duration without

applying a primer leads to clogging of her pores. Hannah overall has a thin and dry skin. I
explained all the concerns to Hannah and she was convinced that she needed to pay attention to
care for her skin to look and feel beautiful.
Objective/ Treatment Plan:
The primary objective of the skin treatment would be to restore hydration and moisture
in Hannah’s skin. Also, the treatment plan would focus on the visible reduction of acnes and
blemishes in Hannah’s skin. This would be achieved by the use of four skin treatments that
would proceed over a duration of 2 weeks. Hannah must get the skin treatment once every two
months in order to achieve best results for her skin. She must continue getting the skin treatment
throughout so as to sustain the effective results.
After talking to Hannah about her skin care routine and taking a close look at her skin, I
realized that her skin texture was in between sensitive to oily skin. Therefore, I prioritized the
skin treatment objective to reduce the oil balance and increase hydration of the skin. I decided to
start with the cleansing process and decided to use the skin juice Eden Cleanser to cleanse the
skin and balance the pH level of the skin. Next, I decided to use the Pulp cleanser which is best
suited for oily skin but at the same time does not dehydrate the skin.
Next I would exfoliate Hannah’s skin so as to remove the dead skin cells from her skin.
In order to exfoliate her skin, I would gently massage her skin with an apricot scrub so as to
remove the dead skin cells and enhance the blood circulation in her face. This would provide
nourishment to her skin and make her skin feel soft and fresh after exfoliation.

Justification:
The justification for giving the client a facial service was to enhance the blood circulation
and improve the nourishment of her skin. It is expected that upon giving the four skin care
treatments, the client’s skin texture would improve significantly and the presence of acne and
blemishes would reduce significantly.
Treatment 1:
I started Hannah’s treatment by using the smudge budge eye cleanser. The smudge budge
eye cleanser is an oil based product that helps in the removal of eye makeup perfectly. After
properly removing the eye makeup, I decided to proceed with the first treatment routine which
was cleansing. I made use of the skin juice Eden cleanser to cleanse her skin and balance the pH
level of the skin. After cleansing the skin with the skin juice Eden cleanser I used the pulp
cleanser to cleanse the skin for a second round. I used this product as it is ideally recommended
for oily skin but at the same time doe not dehydrate the skin. After cleansing the skin, I
exfoliated her skin using an apricot scrub and then prepared her for a skin analysis. The skin
analysis showed that her skin was extremely sensitive. Her skin had open pores and a few
comedones were present on her nose, chin and on the cheeks. This indicated that she had an oily-
t-zone. Also, the analysis indicated that she had dry skin under her eyes and had a number of
papules and pustules around the area of her chin and over her jaw line. The breakout of the
papules and pustules on the area around the chin and jaw line is common and happens due to
hormonal imbalance.
Once the skin analysis was done, I used the Skin Juice’s Bio Juice toner to tone her face
and let the skin absorb the extra amount of toner. The toner would help in balancing the pH level

of the skin and at the same time also help in the removal of any extra amount of cleanser left on
the skin. Next I used two masks on the client’s face which included the Nutty Putty mask and the
Lively Licorice face mask. The nutty putty mask helps in minimizing pores and balancing the
sebum levels of the skin. I carefully placed the mask on her nose and slightly pressed the mask
on her skin and left out the chin. I specifically covered the areas that had open pores. I left the
chin uncovered as it had breakouts and covered the cheek with the lively licorice mask as it
specifically targets the breakouts and blemishes for recovery. It should be noted here that the
lively licorice mask is excellent for reducing blemishes and promoting detoxification. I covered
her chin, décolletage and jaw with the lively licorice mask as these areas had breakouts. The
masks were left for a period of 10 minutes and in that duration I proceeded to give Helen a
refreshing scalp massage. After removal of the mask, I applied skin juice eye cream around her
eyes and Good juice face moisturizer on her face. This would help restore moisture balance of
her skin.1 After the treatment was over, I applied the green balm in the dry skin region under the
eye. Overall, the treatment well but the results were awaited.
This treatment would improve the appearance and quality of the client’s skin. I believe
that 4 sessions of the treatment would help in rejuvenating the skin quality of my client Hannah.

Helen’s skin. For the second treatment, I followed the same treatment routine. I started with the

smudge budge eye makeup cleanser. Next I used the skin juice Eden cleanser to cleanse her skin
and restore the pH balance of her skin. After this, I used the Pulp Skin Juice cleanser in order to
remove the toxins from her skin. This time, what I did different from the first treatment was that
I did not use a scrub to exfoliate her skin. This is because, I had exfoliated her skin the previous
month and exfoliating the skin again would pose a risk to disrupt the acid mantle of her skin.
Also, the pulp cleanser already has mild exfoliating property and I believe that sufficed in
cleansing the skin of any residues of the dead skin cells. The acid mantle is basically a natural
skin protective element that is made up of lipids, sweat and sebum2. Frequent use of exfoliating
products can cause removal of this protective element. As Hannah, already has an oily-skin,
removal of the acid mantle element would result in secretion of more oil to restore the acid
mantle and this would subsequently deteriorate the skin quality. Next, I made use of the Nutty
Putty face mask and the Lively Licorice face mask to extract the toxins from her skin and
detoxify her skin to improve the appearance of the skin. While the masks had to be kept for a
period of 10-15 minutes, I massaged the client’s scalp so as make her feel relaxed and refreshed.
The scalp massage would also improve the circulation of blood and nutrients to the skin and
would also help in improving circulation of blood in the hair follicles. After 10 minutes, I
removed the face masks and applied to Bio juice toner to close the skin pores and balance the pH
levels of the skin. I then applied a skin juice eye cream around the eye region of the client and
moisturized her face by using the Good Juice Face cream. Finally, I applied green balm under the
eye region where the skin felt dry. Overall, the treatment went well, however there was no
significant improvement noticed.

Treatment 3:
I followed the same protocol for the third treatment and started off with the use of
smudge budge eye makeup remover. I then cleansed her face with the Skin Juice Eden Cleanser
and the Pulp cleanser. This time I used an enzyme exfoliating peel to remove the deal cells of the
skin. I used the enzyme peel as it is highly recommended for oily and sensitive skin and helps in
strengthening the skin. Also, I could notice that the acne outbreaks around the chin region and
the jaw line had reduced significantly. Next, I used the nutty putty face mask and instead of the
lively licorice facemask, I used the Mango mud pack. The mango mud pack is a calm and
soothing pack and since I used the enzyme peel pack, the skin could possibly be sensitive and so
I chose the mango mud pack this time. While the facemask left still for a period of 15 minutes, I
gently massaged the scalp of the client. I noticed baby hair growing on the frontal portion of the
scalp. After 15 minutes, I removed the face masks and used the Bio juice toner to close the pores
of the skin and restore the skin Ph balance. Next, I applied the skin juice eye cream and the Good
Juice face cream for moisturizing the skin. I then applied the green balm around the dry area
beneath the eyes. This time, I noticed that the dryness had improved significantly and the area
seemed to be moisturized. Overall, the treatment went well and improvements were noticed in
the skin.

exfoliating products and also did not use the pulp cleanser as it comprises of a mild exfoliating

use of the enzyme peel for exfoliation and repeated exfoliation could hamper the natural pH
balance of the skin. Also, I was aware that Hannah’s skin was sensitive and repeated use of
exfoliation could hamper the quality of her skin. Next, I used the Nutty putty face mask and the
Lively Licorice Face mask. I covered the chin and the forehead region with the Nutty Putty face
mask. On the other hand, I covered her jaw line, chin and décolletage to reduce her acne
breakout. After application of the face mask, the face mask stayed for a period of 10 to 15
minutes and at that time I massaged the client’s scalp. The massage helped in improving the
circulation of blood and nutrients to the skin and helped in the process of declamation of the
skin. It also helped in the growth of baby hair. Next I used the Bio juice toner to close the pores
and then used the Good Juice face cream and the skin juice eye cream. Finally while applying the

treatment worked for Helen and her skin quality had improved. Overall, the treatment went well
and significant improvements could be noticed in the client’s skin.
Aftercare and homecare advice:
After every treatment routine, I strictly advised Hannah not to touch her face for 24 hours
and if at all she had to touch, I asked her to use a sanitizer and then touch her face. This was
because touching the face with bare hands could introduce microbial infection which could
deteriorate the skin quality and lead to the emergence of more acne breakouts. I also advised
Hannah to avoid wearing any make up for a period of 24 hours as that could also lead to an
increase in microbial action. I explained Hannah to avoid spas, steam baths or saunas as that
would open her pores and deteriorate the effect of her skin treatment. As heat treatment would

open the pores and the objective of my skin care treatment was to close the pores so that the skin
is not susceptible to any microbial infection. I also explained Hannah, that since I had used the
ezyme peel, her skin would feel extremely sensitive as the enzyme peel is a strong exfoliating
product. Also, her skin would be extremely sensitive to UV rays and therefore, I asked her to
avoid skin exposure to direct sunlight.
For homecare, I advised Hannah to use SPF every day in the morning before stepping out
in the sun and also asked her to use it every 3 hours during the entire day. This was because, her
skin was sensitive and exposure to UV light could lead to hyper-pigmentation. SPF helps in
preventing the skin from the harsh UV rays. Next, I told her to cleanse her face in the morning
and night to get rid of the pollutants and the toxins stuck to her face. I also suggested her to use
the green balm for the dry skin area under her eyes. I told her to keep her skin moisturized and
suggested her to exfoliate twice or thrice a week so as to avoid blemishes and rejuvenate her
skin. I asked her to not to exfoliate more than thrice a week as that could deprive the skin of the
natural oil balance.
Recommendation:
The client could also get other professional services such as Gem therapy and Platinum
facial. The platinum facial energizes the skin and strengthens it at the cellular level. It helps in
maintaining hydration and also has anti-oxidant effects which helps in protecting the natural
radiance of the skin. The gemstone facial therapy makes use of the natural energy of the
gemstones to correct physical, mental and spiritual imbalances and helps in preventing the
appearance of blemishes on the skin3.

Conclusion of case study:
After completing the treatment, I asked Helen if she wanted me to change anything in the
treatment routine. I also asked her about her feelings after the treatment. She told me that she
was extremely happy with the treatment and could feel the change. She mentioned that she could
