INTRODUCTION
In the current business environment every organisation has different teams for the different
operations in order to manage the work effectively and to gain productivity (Bednár and
Ljudvigová, 2020). The Belbin team role theory discusses specific and varied team roles that an
effective team requires and each role can be functional, personal, organisational etc. According
to Belbin team role theory each team must have mix of different team roles in order to achieve
specific goal that team wishes to attain. The present report is based on engineering team of
multinational organisation Vauxhall motors limited. The report will outline primary and
secondary role of trainee engineer in a team as per Belbin team role test, potential strengths and
weaknesses within team and responsibilities within engineering team.

Primary roles
Innovator: As per the result of the Belbin role test my score personal score for innovator
role is high therefore it is clear that my key role in engineering team of Vauxhall Ltd. will be
to become creative generator of the team. As, I posses strong imagination, scientific way to
do work and desire to be raw and original in ideas.
Driver: my another primary role would be of driver in team of Vauxhall Ltd. as I am
ambitious and impulsive to be motivator in team and challenge other to work to their
greatest potential. Thus, pushing my team forwards towards goal and success is part of my
role (Rahmani and et. a., 2021).
Chairperson: I will also act as the coordinator of the team as I prefer emphasizing on
procedures and also I'm communicative and open minded to keep the team together.
Secondary roles
Executive: this is my secondary role as the part of the team of Vauxhall Ltd that is to play
role of organizer in order to turn ideas into concrete action plan.
Explorer: sometimes in a team I will act curious, excited, cheerful and improvise to talk to
others.
Expert: as I'm just a trainee engineer therefore I don't have any expertise in specific skill
therefore I may have to sometimes fulfill this role in order to understand my sense of
expertise.
Completer: this is my secondary role because as a trainee Engineer I will very rarely feel
responsible in team achievements or act like finisher.
Team player: As a part of engineering team of Vauxhall Ltd. I have to play role of team
player and for which I have to foster harmony in a weak.
TASK 2
Potential strengths and weaknesses within engineering team of Vauxhall motors limited
Strengths
From the Belbin team role test I analysed that my major strength is my creativity and
imagination skills as my primary role is innovator and for which I have high grade creativity
to approach to tasks and solve issues. This is very important for the engineering team of

Vauxhall Ltd. in designing new models of cars that are advanced in technology and become
huge part of innovation (García-Ramírez, 2020).
The another key strength that I hold is that I'm highly ambitious and act like motivator
which help me in meeting objective of Vauxhall on time. This strength of mine also makes
me a good driver in a team to achieve the goals and to move forwards towards the success.
Weaknesses
From the Belbin team role test it is assumed that communication skills are my weakness
and that are highly essential to be improved in order to keep the team conflict free. Due to
this weakness I also lack in performing roles. Like explorer, Expert, Analyst etc.
Team player is my bad weakness due to which my entire secondary role least essential.
Also the as the trainee engineer my actions are rational and seem by multiple dilemmas.
This factor lowers my overall capability as trainee engineer at Vauxhall motors (Nair,
2020).
TASK 3
Reflection on personal responsibilities within an engineering team of Vauxhall motors limited
Innovation is always a part of Vauxhall motors limited as this helps the firm in gaining the
competitive edge over the other organisation. Therefore my first responsibility within
engineering team of Vauxhall motors limited is to timely and regularly innovate new strategies
and designs for the manufacture of the vehicles using the latest technological advancements of
the automotive industry. As a trainee engineer I have. Responsibility to execute ideas into the
realistic action plan to identify and developed in new tools and emerging technology in
automatically industry. As a part of Vauxhall ltd. I have responsibility to assist the higher
engineers in competing the job role effectively. I also has a responsibility to act as analyst to
search for new trends and latest technology that is opportunity for the me and team to utilize new
technology in gaining higher sales and also to bring sustainability. Thus the major responsibility
as engineer trainee in engineering team of Vauxhall is to keep the shops away in order to take
result.

CONCLUSION
From the above information it is concluded that for development of effective and successful
team the most important thing is to have mix of different roles in team. For every team role
becoming a team player is a priority and key role as this will help the team to remain motivated
and encouraged to work hard. It is concluded that an individual must analyse itself weaknesses
and strengths in order to fill gaps of team.
