INTRODUCTION Studying abroad is a dream for each and every student because it provides with much better opportunities and better standard of living as per the students studying. Talking of studying abroad, one of the best countries to study in is UK which provides varied fields of education to pursue. UK has a legacy for scientific research hub and thus attracts one of the brightest minds in the world. The following essay will be talking about the benefits of studying in the UK along with any personal experience evidencing the same. MAIN BODY UK is a great place to study with an access to a large student community. This can be proven by the fact that almost 14% of the UK’s population is born abroad i.e., almost 9.5 million of total people. This shows that UK is a mixture of various cultures and ethics and to live in such an environment can be a life changing experiencing for anybody. London’s 35% population was born outside of UK (Ogura, 2020). Although a person can have a fantastic exposure to the different cultures the UK has to offer but it also has the facilities like community meetings and events of all the beliefs and even restaurants and food joints serving delicacies from home to help the person with homesickness and cultural shock if he experiences it. It can also be said that exposure to such wide variety of cultures globally and meeting fellow international students will help the students with developing of social skills which are very important to survive and thrive in the international markets in the future (King and Sondhi, 2018). There is a special emphasis on the quality of education imparted among the students in all the universities and colleges in the UK. For such a tedious task, Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), which is an independent body is being formulated to assess and supervise the quality of standards of education of those universities and colleges. Such a quality can be ensured by the fact that out of top 50 global universities, 8 universities are of UK itself like University of Oxford, University of Manchester, King’s College London, Imperial College London, etc. (Yates and Plagnol, 2022). Varied areas of education consists of fields like, art and design, engineering, science, business and management, law and finance, etc. offering courses from English language course to PHDs. Also, QAA takes various measures to maintain the quality like audits, subject reviews, devising best educational practices. The special consideration is laid on the assurance that all the
students will have access to the top tier quality of research, learning and teaching (Xie and et.al., 2021). One of the most important aspects a student consider nowadays is earning while studying. Being independent is a trend and infuses a sense of confidence in the student for his future jobs and works as he will already be experienced while studying. Keeping this in mind, UK’s system of education allows to work part-time for up to 20 hours weekly during the ongoing terms. And during the semester breaks, he can even work full-time. And such work experience will be added to his CV. This allows the student to keep up with his day to day living expenses and even costs of loans taken for studying thereby having a sense of responsibility within him (Huang and Turner, 2018). Such an experience in his own respective field will help him attain good jobs in the future based on his experience. Also there is a new announcement regarding working for extra 2 years in the UK after graduation due to which the student will not be forced to shift to other countries and continue to be live and work in the UK. The student here will be able to grasp such crucial skill to succeed later in his life in the future with his job or even his own business. One of those skill is command on English language which has a global recognition and is spoken globally. Also with students coming in the UK from around the world the student will have an access to different accents like English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh and British of course. And being a place where the English language originated, there can’t be a better place to learn the language along with having real life listening experience of different accent that a student might not be able to access at other place. Also, command on the English language will help the students with accessing the global recognition and also increasing the chances of global employment opportunities which is desired by all (Wilkins and Juusola, 2018). As it can be observed and understood from the above benefits, in my opinion, decision to study in the UK is a wise decision as first and foremost, the quality of education is top notch with various bodies governing the quality. Then, to be able to work while studying is a great option because living in the UK is not cheap and thus earning while studying will be of great assistance financially as well as career wise for the future jobs and works. Also, meeting a large community of students with varied cultures is once in a life time opportunity and not everybody has access to such an opportunity and to be able to gain expertise in English language is an icing on the cake
