History on big Data Most of the organisation work with large amounts of data. Data cab be refer as basic values or facts which are organized in a database. Mostly people think that data issynonymous with information, whereas, information is a collection of data that has been organized to help answer questions and to solve problems. Information system is a software which helps in organize and analyse the data. Major purpose of this system is to turn raw data into useful information which will help the organisation in decision making. Big data analysis is an activity used to pull out purposeful insights, such as invisible patterns, unknown correlations, market trends, and customer preferences. This analysis provides various advantages, which includes better decision making, preventing fraudulent activities, among other things (Handayani, P.W., Hidayanto, A.N. and Budi, I., 2018). Information Systems and Big Data Analysis Name of the Student What is big Data Big data analysis examine the galactic amount of data to uncover hidden pattern, correlations and other insights. With current technology proficiency, it is possible to analyse your data and get answers almost immediately. There are millions of data sources that generates data at a really speedy rate. These data sources are existing crossways of the world. Taking an example, of some largest sources of data from social media platforms, such as Facebook, it generates more than 500 terabytes of data on daily basis which includes pictures, videos, messages, etc. There is different formates of data, like structured data, semi-structured data and unstructured data. Characteristics of data: Volume:The huge amount of data that is collected and generated every second in large organisation is termed as volume. It generally generates from different sources such as, social media, videos, financial transactions, etc. The volume of data can be measured by Gigabytes, Zettabytes, and Yottabytes. In accordance to the trends in industry, it is expected that the volume of data is on the verge of expansion in the future (Aboelmaged, M. and Mouakket, S., 2020). Variety:Variety refers to different sources of data and their nature. Earlier, the data is only available in spreadsheets and databases, but nowadays, data it is available in the form of photos, audio files, videos, text files, and PDFs. The challenges of big data analytics Big data challenges include the best way of treating the many amount of data whichinvolvestheprocedureofstoring, analysingthehugesetof information on different data stores. There are some challenges which comes into the way while dealing with big data. The challenges are listed below: Lack of data professionals: Data professional are very important in the organisation to run these modern technologies and big data tools. Data scientists, data analysts and data engineers are the types of data professional, who has working experience with tools and make some sense out of huge data sets. The solution for this challenge is, that the companies should invest more money in the recruitment of skilled professionals. They can also organise a training programs to existing staff to get more out of it. Lack of proper understanding of massive data: Due to having large amount of data it become difficult for the companies to understand the data properly. Some of the employee may not know what data is, itsstorage, process, importance ans source. Data professionals has proper knowledge of what is going on, but others may not have any clear idea. The solution for this challenge is that the companies should plan a proper workshop and seminars for the other employees (Gökalp and et. al., 2019). Accurate training should be providedfor those employees who are handling the data regularly and to those who are a part of big data projects. . Techniques that are currently available to analysis big data Big data technology has a significant role in supporting the various businesses of the organisations. The various ways in which the big data has supported the business of the organisations have been discussed below. Helps in understanding the customers- The big data has a contribution in the data collection from the various social media sites like Facebook. The social media profiles or the websites contain huge data and information regarding an individual (Tanwar, S., Tyagi, S. and Kumar, N. eds., 2019). The organisations can use these big data in order to generate information and provide suitable recommendations as well. It is very well understood that in order to serve the customers, it is very important to have ample information regarding them. For example, Disney has taken the the big data technology on leverage in order to understand the behaviour of the individuals who are visiting the theme park. This step has been taken by the organisation in order to understand the customers and provide them with better experiences at the resorts and theme park. Conclusion It can be concluded from this report that information system and big data analytics plays a significant role in the various industries across globe.
