Biometrics for authentication: security and privacy implications
Abstract:
Data is increasing day by day with the use of smart technology on a large scale. Almost all the
companies in the market are focusing on the storing the data with the authentication process.
With the use of authentication, it becomes possible to maintain the three factors of security and
they are confidentiality, integrity and availability. Biometric is one of the authentication
techniques that help in making the data private in the form of highly digitalized technique. The
major thing that affects the development of biometric is the cost-effective resources.
Authentication technique using the biometric is done with the help of specific human features
like a fingerprint, iris of eyes, voice, ECG authentication and so on (Bhattasali , Saeed, Chaki
and Chaki, 2014, p. 1).
With the use of this technology, there are several challenges associated to this and they are:
regulatory requirements, agreement from human resource, user acceptance and also include the
fulfilment of security’s requirement for the associated organization. Security concern occurs at
control access to the personal information of the associated individual. Here there is a
requirement of the exceptionally different machine to implement the biometric privacy. This
topic has been selected in the perspective to provide research on advanced technology related to
the information technology. It has lots of benefits because it depends upon technical, set up,
unique recognition basis and operational analysis. (Harinda and Ntagwirumugara, 2015, p. 98).
