make people capable to increase cognition and think broadly. In this report, Institute of Inner
City Learning (IICL) of UWTSD has been taken into consideration which is a multi-campus
university located in London, UK. The report will cover the pros and cons of the blended
learning in the university education, further, it will cover pros and cons of the traditional class
room learning in the higher education sectors. In addition to this, an evaluation will be done
of both teaching and learning in the pasty and present.
Main Body
Blended learning is an approach or methods of gaining education through online or
digital component and face to face learning(Al-Maroof and et. al., 2021). It creates a really
combined class room for all types of learner at one place. This learning encourages the
students to keep engaged, inspired and motivated that also assist teachers to be more effective
and get more knowledge with their students.
Pros and cons of blended learning
Pros of blended learning Cons of blended learning
Foster collaboration: A blended learning
provide good collaboration with each other.
It provides good platform to students and
educators to connect outside the classroom
through various tools like online discussion,
blogs and so on(Baeva and Kubacheva,
2021). All individual are capable to interact
face to face and share knowledge at one
place which help in making them broad
minded.
Huge technological dependence: The
blended learning make an individual able to
attend their classes at their home by using
internet technology but this make them
depended on such technology. This has
become a key ingredients of the blended
learning because the classes are held online
which requires internet connection.
Therefore, everyone is depended on this
technology to obtain education or learning.
Facilitates quick communication: The
blended learning provide assistance in
instant communication with the teacher,
Huge cost involved: The establishment of
the technology requires huge investment in
the schools or colleges for getting the tools

through video call apps and many other
tools. The teacher s and the students are also
able to interact face to face with each other
through offline classes at the school or
institute.
which are usable in Taking
classes(Crosthwaite, Sanhueza and
Schweinberger, 2021). The infrastructure is
set up and the devices are installed to use the
internet so that they can interact with each
individual at one place for learning.
Developing language skills: The efficiency
of blended learning helps in developing
language skills because the participants are
able to learn English language which is
common(Fovet, 2021). The students and the
teachers believe that it helps in improving
the capabilities to effectively learn English
language.
IT literacy: There is lack of understanding
the basic online tools and the technologies
Which may create barrier for the teachers
and the students as well. They are required
support or training to operate the devises
and tools so that they can take or get
education online.
Enhance computer literacy skills: The
blended learning encourage the students to
increase their technical skill because this
will provide them opportunity to learn from
their electronic devices while operating
various functions and tools. The teacher are
able to learn and enhance their skills and
knowledge. They are able to prepare the
students for the better future opportunities
and make them able to acquire through
blended learning.
Too much exposure on the web: All the
digital resources are not authenticated and
age appropriated for the students because
they use internet on the regular basis by
accessing the websites. This may create
hindrances because the students must might
get fascinated by the irrelevant content or
unsuitable things(Mohammed and Daham,
2021). Therefore, it is significant for the
teachers to make the students aware about
the security of the internet and get them
encourage to be responsible for taking the
classes online.
Traditional class room learning
A traditional classroom is a place where the teacher are able to face to face

Pros and cons of traditional class room learning
Pros of traditional class room learning Cons of traditional class room learning
Interactive: This is very beneficial for the
classmates and the teachers in learning
because they can easily interact with each
other. This assist especially those students
who work in a group or a team and learn
better through cooperation(Tejasvee 2021).
Al, the students are capable to make face to
face interaction and can ask question and
receive immediate answer solution to their
problems.
Cost of commutation: The students have to
pay fair charges for commuting to their
schools or university. Therefore, the
students who uses traditional method of
learning have to bear cost travelling and
some have to look for the accommodation in
the hostel of the institution and schools.
They have to arrange for the hostel in order
to reduce the difficulty of daily up down.
Motivating: This also motivates the
students because they are able to obtain
knowledge which get them stay
concentrated and make them active. The
traditional classroom creates the atmosphere
of learning where each students are able to
think critically.
No flexible study hours: The students find
difficult to take out time for theirs self-study
or other activities because of the rigid
schedule(Ayob and et. al., 2021). Therefore,
they are not able to manage time and focus
on the other activities.
Accessible: The traditional classroom is a
good place to access the information and get
the answer of their question. Therefore,
learning help the teachers to teach the
students by sharing knowledge through
making discussion among the students and
end with the new information that is written
by the learners.
Less time in pursuing other task:
The students have to schedule their task
according to the timetable of their schools
or college. So they get less time to organize
for the other activities and not able to do
other actions. This dot allow the students to
express their interest and skill for other
activities which make their morale down.
Organized: The tradition classroom help
the students in fixing schedule for their
study and attend classes(Al-Hunaiyyan,
Alhajri and Bimba, 2021). Therefore they
set the specific time period which they have
to devote for their learning. The students
Loans: The students have to take loans for
their studies for taking admission in
colleges or universities. They have to pay
high interest rate to facilitate their higher
education so that they can make their career
and have good opportunity in future. The

traditional classroom method is used by
every individual in order to get the good
qualification to educate themselves for
which they have to bear extra expense.
Social connection: This learning offers the
student new opportunity to make new
friends and interact with other people in the
institution and schools. Therefore, it allows
them to learn interpersonal skills, develop
social skills and they are exposed to the real
world.
Use of authoritarian approach: The
teacher have the authority to make all the
decisions and instruct the students to pursue
their lessons daily. But sometimes it
happens that they are not permitted to share
their concerns with. This may create the gap
between the teachers and the students.
Evaluation of the both forms of teaching and learning in past and
present
The blended learning changes the role of the teacher from lecturer to the mentor
because the students are more deep influenced by the blended learning which emphasise the
teacher to be a coach. This learning is considered to be an appropriate learning because the
instructions are given online where the students are more interactive and sometimes, they do
not turn on their camera while getting the class which creates privacy and provide motivation
and encourage them to be engaged continuously. The teacher provide them instruction to the
students which increase their learning experience and make the student capable to make their
career ahead by giving them effective knowledge and skills. This learning provides full
picture to the teacher of their performance. They use technologies to learn their lessons which
are checked by the teachers and instructions are also provided by them to target their goals.
This creates the interpersonal relationships between the teacher and the students and provide
opportunities to the students to share their concerns which assist in strengthening the
relationship. Therefore, it combines the best aspect of the learning where teacher can help the
students easily make them understand of managing workload.
Traditional method of teaching is an old method of teaching where the teachers are
abler to take classes at the schools or colleges or where they are and take complete
responsibility of learning environment. The students go to schools or college to gain
knowledge and information by attending their classes. The teachers are the main source of
knowledge in the classroom where students are able to learn content which are delivered by

the teachers. The traditional classroom learning influence the students to become the good
learner because the teacher provide the direction to all the students. They prepare the students
for the exams, teach them and make them understand all lessons with their concepts. This
make the students able to get good marks in their exams. The teacher find the relevant study
material that are access buy the students to learn and get the best result in their assessments.
The traditional learning increase the interaction among the students which create the learning
environment and encourage the students to make competitions. This makes the students an
effective learner where the teachers impart knowledge to them.
Recommendation
From the above discussion, it has been recommended that blended learning is more
effective than traditional learning method because the students are able to learn various skills
such as technical skills, critical thinking skill, problem solving skills and so on. Their
vocabulary and pronunciation also get improved while using online material. In this learning
each students provide individual support and are able to learn from digital material. This
provide more interactive educational experience and they are also able to get time for their
rest of the activities. They get chance to communicate with their teachers using video
conferencing which help them to sort out their quires. This make them provide motivation
because they gain lot of skills which assist them, in making their carer bright.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it has been concluded that learning is most important for
all individuals but now a days people are learning by using electronic devices such as laptop,
desktop, phones and so on. The report has discussed not the advantages and disadvantage of
blended learning where the students are able to learn face to face and through online mode.
This is method which is adopted by the children who are far from their colleges or university
to pursue their course. Therefore, they prefer blended method which assist in making
collaboration with their classmates and have good communication with them. Whereas
traditional classroom learning allow an individual to come at the school or college to attend
their classes. This help them in accessing information or knowledge and get instant answer of
their question which provide motivation to them. They are able to interact with their
teammates and teacher, and make schedule for their classes.
