educational institutes within UK. Here, LSST college of UK is highly affected with external
environment and competition within industry. There is requirement to improve in techniques and
marketing strategies for getting rid of problems in an efficient manner.

INTRODUCTION
Business consulting and client management is an activity of providing necessary
consultations to clients for resolving their issues in an efficient manner. It is analyzed that in
current time, there are a lot of issues are faced by educational institutions of UK. So, there is
requirement to provide proper consultation to institutions so that they can resolve the issue in
significant manner (Chong, 2018). In the present report, LSST College is taken as a client. It is a
well known college of science and technology within London. The report includes issues faced
by institution along with analysis of its market, competitors, external environment and more.
Main aim of report is to highlight the major issues of client institution.

Client and problem statements
LSST college is the known for education in science and technology. It is a private college
which was started in 2003 by Syed Zaidi. Main vision before starting this college is to support
and empower local communities and enhance social inclusion (Jewell, Jewell and Kaufman,
2020). In present time, there are some issues being faced by LSST college which are mentioned
below:
 The major issue is related with the technology as due to COVID 19 learning has been
shifted completely to the online platform. Here, LSST college faces a lot of difficulties in
maintaining the efficiency of technical platforms for providing timely services to
learners.
 In context of LSST College, they are also facing issues in terms of changes in current
government policies due to Brexit which has been affected recruitment of teachers and
subsidies provide to educational institutes by government.
 It is analyzed that competition within educational industry is also increasing which is a
threat for LSST College. It is stated that lower number of admissions might hamper the
existing image of institute at global market place.

Consulting plays a crucial role in resolving the issues faced by clients. In this, expert
individuals assess the position of client along with the issues they are facing which further help
in dealing with the issues effectively. In current scenario, LSST College is facing plenty of issues
regarding market share, competition, technology, government regulations and more. Here,
consulting will help them in meeting with the issues in significant manner.

In present time, there is higher competition prevailing in each and every sector. In this
regard, there is a model called porter’s five forces has been applied in order to analyze the degree
of competition in market place.
Industry rivalry: It is stated that industry rivalry is really higher for LSST college due to
presence of ample of educational institutions which offer similar services. There are a lot of
universities such as imperial college, university of London and more. So, students have a lot of
choice to choose one better institution (Neighbour, 2018).
Bargaining power of customers: In context of LSST college customers are their students
who have higher bargaining power as they can easily switch to another college for better learning
& development. So, students have an upper hand and they can easily switch over other
universities where they get better education at affordable price.
Bargaining power of suppliers: In educational industry suppliers are faculty members,
non academic staff that provide services for betterment of university. It is analyzed that in LSST
college faculties have higher power due to their strong association and power. If, they stop
providing services, it will affect the entire functions of university.
Threat of new entrants: Here, threat of new entrants is moderate due to some
restrictions imposed by government to start an educational institution. Before starting an
educational institute, it is necessary to take permission of higher authorities, government of
country (Ordaya Lock and et. al., 2020). In context of LSST college, they have been formulated
their reputation within industry over the period of time so it will help them to face competition
with new entrants in an efficient manner.

Threat of substitute: In context of LSST college, threat of substitute is really higher due
to presence of several public and private universities. In addition to this, online education is also
gaining popularity in present time which can be also used as substitute for services of LSST
college. Therefore, they are required to focus over quality of education with an aim to build
positive reputation in market place.
STP analysis
Segmentation: LSST the market segmentation is done by using behavioural segmentation
approach. In this target segment of students are on their behavioural characteristics that are

Political: There are several factors that are affecting the present functioning of
educational institutions like LSST. Presently there are many government regulations on higher
education providers. Apart from this there is quality assurance agency for higher educational
institutions that is an independent body checking the way universities and colleges are
maintaining their academic quality and standards. All this leads to higher amount of regulations
there is also issues of equality because of political scenario of UK that is causing my impact on
LSST.
Economic: presently the United Kingdom’s freedoms code is 78.4 and the economy is at
7 speed test as per 2021 index (Alarussi. and Alhaderi, 2018). The present judicial
ineffectiveness and does corps of 0.9 is affecting the functioning of different sectors includes
various educational institutions also. The present covid-19 situation has also affected the

physical aspects of United Kingdom. There is high amount of unemployment and over or
economic damages in the transition period in year 2020.
Social factors: The covid 19 situation has resulted into difficulty in the overall
functioning of educational institutions. The issues of social distancing and virtual learning have
created a lot of barriers in effective learning process. Educational institutions are suffering from
challenges to deal with the changing requirement of external environment (Perera, 2017). There
is need to create a balance between diverse nature of students, effective learning process along
with implications for future in LSST.
Technological factors: The covid 19 situation has created the need for more
technological advancements. Such as there are issues face by some of the students that is
because of no proper technological friendly nature of virtual learning process. There is also
difficulty in dealing with the training or guidance that is required to provide students in LSST
because of shortage of competent and skilled workforce.
Legal factors: There are certain legal laws that are constantly changing it is leading to
difficulty and having adequate compliance measures for all the different types of legal and
employment laws that is affecting LSST in long run (London school of science and technology,
2021).
Environment factors: LSST is educational institution that is focused on developing a
teaching and learning environment by focusing on both professional and academic skills of
students. They are affected by the changing nature of environmental requirement and for this
they have created a scenario of affordability where are the fees that is paid at the institution is
slightly lower as compared to other similar type of institutions.

CONCLUSION
It is assessed with above discussion that business consulting is a great concept which is
concern with providing best possible solution to clients. It is stated that LSST college is facing a
lot of issues due to emergence of pandemic. Discussion has been carried out about industry
analysis along with the analysis of external environment. Further, target market has been also
discussed in the report which will further provide guidance in preparing strategies. Moreover,
business consulting is helpful in providing appropriate guidance to clients for resolving issues
effectively.
Recommendations
 There is requirement to analyze the current industry performance and prepare effective
strategies for meeting with requirements of educational institutions in an effective
manner.
 The other recommendation is adoption of technological advancements due to increasing
demand of online learning. Now, students give more preference to online education rather
class room session. So, respective institution is required to make changes in current
technology so that they can provide better education and learning opportunities to
students.
 It is suggested to apply digital marketing practices for getting more number of admissions
which will significantly improve the reputation of college in significant manner.
