INTRODUCTION
Academic skills and PDP are the two key elements that contribute to the success and
growth of individual people. The current assignment will define the concept of professional
and personal development and will also explain value of 3 short terms, long and medium
aims. Furthermore, the study will justify value of personal development plan and how author,
purpose, relevance and reliability affect use of source. Lastly, the assignment will clarify
evaluation of eight sources that have utilized in report plan.
TASK 1
Definition of the concept of personal and professional development
Personal development-
It defined as lifelong procedure, through which a person may enhance their
competences and skills in effective manner, which they may use to grab the best job
opportunities (Burkhanova and et.al., 2020). It is one of the most effective ways that help
individual to better comprehend themselves and their unique potential as well as personality.
Professional development-
This approach refer to education, training and certification that a candidate needs to
grow and success in their career. Professional development is also described as continued
training process that contribute to develop employability skills among group of workers,
which is quite beneficial in term of maximizing productivity and performance degree of each
applicant at the workplace.
Description and discussion of the value of short term goals identifying at least 3 personal
examples
Short term aim is something that a person want to do or achieve in near future (Smyth
and et.al., 2020). These kinds of aims are valuable because it acts as a milestone in journey of
people which direct them to reach a long term goal. It drives the attention of each person
towards getting success and planning for achieving long aims. There are three examples of
personal aims;
ï‚· To wake up early in the morning
ï‚· To start my work on time
ï‚· To develop effective communication skills
All these short term aims, make a person able to drive their efforts towards making

themselves ready for future challenges, which they may face while conducting professional
practices.

examples
Medium term aims are those goals that are gained by a person only after a sequence of
short goal have been reached and which build together to set a long term aim (Murakami,
Moriyasu and Bando, 2020). Just like other aims, medium term goals are also important for
anyone especially students or learners because it offers the great change in context of making
significant growth at personal or professional degree. Another advantage of these aims that
define its value in life of any person is that it gave opportunity to set many of them over
course of lifetime. It allows to take each single step towards growth in term of earning
money, etc.
ï‚· To achieve 70% marks in midterm exam.
ï‚· To develop time management skills
ï‚· To solve 15 questions each day

A long-term aim is something a person wants to grab or reach in the future after
making effective plans for a longer period (Van Norman, Christ and Newell, 2017). Long-
term goal setting consumes a lot of time and efforts as well. Long term goals are quite
essential for students or other personal also, because it helps to them to think about the
competences, knowledge, resources etc. which they will need in the future.

Personal development plan is valuable and important because it provides appropriate
framework to individual candidate, which allow them to determine the areas of their key
strengths, and weaknesses. It enables people especially students to take better action in
context of overcome weaknesses that they may have. It encompasses key stages for example;
