INTRODUCTION
Academic skills can be referred to the behavioral aspects adapted by the students
during their studies which help them in completing their studies in a successful manner. The
academic skills help in grabbing the skills which lead to the development of the graduate
attributes which include Analytical Skills, Problem Solving skills, Communication skills and
Innovation skills. Academic skills consist of various fundamental skills such as referencing,
presentation skills and academic writing. These skills underpin the skills which are even more
complex. The more complex skills are reflective writing and critical thinking skills (Albrecht,
Moscardo and Dwyer, 2021).
Professional Development Plan is referred to as a process which allows individuals
observe and examine their various qualification and skills. These are significant in terms of
future achievements and career planning. Personal and professional development plan is a
self-oriented process which provides knowledge and reflection related to an individual.
TASK 1
Explain the concept of personal and professional development.
Personal and professional development aims to manage the learning process in order
to achieve growth throughout the career. Learning and development is the key to achieve
growth in career as it helps to keep oneself updated with the latest skills and knowledge that
are required in the industry. Personal and Professional development plan is a process which
allows individuals observe and examine their various qualification and skills. These are
significant in terms of future achievements and career planning. Personal and professional
development plan is a self-oriented process which provides knowledge and reflection related
to an individual. Personal and professional development plan allows an individual to identify
and portray the strengths and weaknesses. Personal development plan makes sure that a
person or an individual continues to work in a safe, legal and effective manner.
Personal and professional development plan is determining the current position of a
person and then determining the ways to reach the desired position in future. There are
various learning activities that can lead to personal and professional development. The
activities are volunteering, attending workshops and different courses, computer based
learning and on the job learning. As Personal and Professional Development is a continuous
process, it is also known as a continuous professional development (AlKhaibary and et.al.,
2021).
