History of Brexit
 Brexit is the withdrawal of Britain from the
European Union.
 It started in 1975 where Britain had a
referendum just after joining it within three
years.
 This was after weighing the disadvantages
and advantages of being a member of the
European Union.
 2015- Conservative victory leading to the
demand for a referendum
 Leave campaign won by 51.9% in 23rd June

Referendum
 David Cameron, the then Prime Minister
promised the citizens a referendum in
2013.
 This aimed at also discussing the
importance of being at the Union.as
such, the main issue of contention was
whether to leave or remain. According
to him, to Remain was the best option.
 In 2016, Britons cast their votes to
Leave or remain after issues of migration
became political, (Stephenson &
Fontana, 2019). 52% voted for Brexit
while 48% voted against it.
