AIM “To assess the reason behind the less participation of women in STEM subjects with aspecial consideration of Design Technology (DT) and ascertain ways to bridge the gender gap.A case study on Regent High School (RHS)” INTRODUCTION & BACKGROUND The little history of design as well as technology has been nearly linked with the genderissues in response to different participation of girls and the dynamic examination of success ofboys and girls (Wang and Degol, 2017). In the past, sex differentiation is the major reason offewer women in design and technology. Women's are generally paid less than men. Theparticipation of women in science technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) isincreasing but it involves two challenges which are increasing retention of women who arealready in STEM field and second in increasing the recruitment of women. Implicit Bias andStereotype threats are the major barriers in STEM. In addition to this, Implicit Bias is also onethe major barriers which stop women's in opting STEM subjects it is because people think thatmale with science is good and female with arts is good. Moreover, in the subject of Technologyand Mathematics, people have fixed mindsets and they believe that intelligence is statistics.People think that only male faculty can teach better and have good knowledge in Mathematicsand Technologies. Design and Technology (DT) is the study, design, development, application, implementation, support and management of computer as well as non computer basestechnologies for the express purpose of communicating the intent design of the product alongwith constructibility (Krämer and et.al., 2016). A survey carried out that resulted in only 136females workers employed in STEM and non STEM jobs. STEM is Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics. The present research will discuss the concern of less participation of women's in a STEMsubjects with a special consideration of Design Technology. This research will identify thereason behind the less participation of woman's by taking the point of social and environmentalbarriers which also includes stereotypes, discrimination on the basis of gender as well as theclimate and surrounding of Engineering and Science departments in secondary education likeschools and institutions. These barriers block the progress as well as participation of women's inSTEM subjects. Further hence, this report also includes statistics on the achievement of girls as
