1a. Outline relevant legislation, codes of practice, and national standards relevant to
privacy, freedom of information and knowledge management
Archive Act 1983, empowers the National Archive of Australia (NAA) to control the
recordkeeping and information governance system according to the set of requirements for
Commonwealth records. This regulation is applied to the subject of disposal Access.
Archives Regulations require Australian Government agencies to provide the Archive with
specified documentation and device support for appraisal, notification and disposal procedure
of information.
Privacy Act 1988, and Privacy Regulation 2013 regulates the handling of personal
information according to the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Office of the Australian
Information Commissioner (OAIC) is responsible for this regulatory governance and
imposition.
Freedom of Information Act 1982 and regulations set the right to access confidential
documents that are either government documents or personal.
Electronic Transactions Act 1999 and Electronic Transactions Regulations 2000 regulate the
digital transaction of information and recordkeeping system
Evidence Act 1995 regulates the evidence keeping procedure through electronic record
keeping process for judicial actions.
