Reasonable Adjustment
Reasonable adjustment is available to all students for assessments and must be requested in writing,
using the Reasonable Adjustment form – this includes extensions which must be requested 1 week
prior to the assessment task due date. Reasonable Adjustment forms are available from your trainer.
On receipt of your completed Reasonable Adjustment form, your trainer/assessor will consider your
request and advise whether it is approved and what action will be taken.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is a formal process that recognises skills developed through previous training, work or life
experience, which match a unit of competency in a training course. If you believe you already have
the skills covered in this unit of competency, discuss this with your trainer, who will provide you with
instructions for applying for RPL.
National Recognition / Credit Transfer
Qualifications or statements of attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations are
recognised by the College. Where this unit of competency is equivalent to a unit of competency
previously completed with another provider, credit transfer will be offered and the course length
adjusted accordingly. It is the responsibility of the student to provide the relevant evidence of
qualifications or statements of attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations, which
will be verified by the College prior to credit transfer being applied.

Your trainer/assessor is able to clarify any aspect of an assessment task prior to it being administered.
This may include clarifying: knowledge and skills covered during the training program; the meaning
of written assessment questions; performance standards for practical assessments; and marking
criteria.
Once the assessment process has commenced however, the assessor is not able to provide any
intervention or guidance, unless it is to prevent an unsafe act from being performed.
Please ask for help when you need it, as your trainer/assessor may not be aware that you have not
understood aspects of the training program, or are not feeling confident enough to engage in
assessment activities.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is using the words or ideas of others and presenting them as your own. Plagiarism is a type
of intellectual theft. It can take many forms, from deliberate cheating to accidentally copying from a
source without acknowledgement. In your assessments you must come up with your own ideas,
however, at times you may need to make reference to work that has been conducted by others.
Important points to be aware of:
Know what plagiarism is – refer to http://www.plagiarism.org/ for more information
Reference your work / acknowledge all of your sources

CASE STUDY – BELINDA
Belinda is part of your team of salespeople. You work for a company called ABC Educational Sales
and you sell a range of books and educational toys for children. Lately, Belinda appears to be having
some personal problems directly related to her mother. Other members of your team have told you
that they have overheard her having arguments with her mother outside on her mobile phone.
For the past two weeks she has been in a terrible mood. Normally Belinda is a model employee and
works hard. Her work output is of high quality and her clients are very happy dealing with Belinda.
But these days she is grumpy, her paperwork is sloppy, and several clients have complained of her
poor attitude. Some team members have had to pick up some of her appointments and fix her
paperwork to get it up to standard. No one is happy in your team at the moment.
On Tuesday you needed her to finish an inventory of all the products, so you could review it and send
off the order. She did not come through – she was late to work in the morning and took a long lunch
break. She left as soon as her last appointment was finished and did not tell you she hadn’t finished
the task you had given her. You found out because you went to do the fortnightly order and found she
had not started the inventory.
You ended up doing the job yourself.

The Board of Management decided two weeks ago to do some IT upgrades. A new system has been put
in which deals with appointment scheduling, all client records as well as client payments, requests

Today you return to work after taking three days’ leave. Your inbox is flooded with complaints – from
staff, from clients and from the Board. It appears that the fortnightly performance reports have not
been completed and client records are not able to be accessed. Orders that should have been sent
automatically to preferred suppliers have not been received and clients have been turning up for
appointments to find that they have been double booked.
1. Send out an email to the members of your team (send to your assessor) requesting a meeting tomorrow
at 10 am to address the issues that have come up while you have been away. Request your team
members to think about ways to move ahead with the crisis and let them know you value their input
and would like a group brainstorming session tomorrow with positive suggestions for ways to address
the IT issue. Assign your three team members specific jobs to do before the meeting tomorrow.
2. You have now had your team meeting and your team has come up with some suggestions. Isaac has

Option 1: Three information sessions could be attended by the staff at the IT Company’s
premises as they are holding sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 2 pm – 5:00 pm.
The IT Company suggests that two - three sessions are normally sufficient for most people to
understand the new system. These sessions will cost $50 per employee per session.
Option 2: An IT consultant could come to the store and give training on your system at a cost of
$150 for a call out fee including the first hour, and $75 for each additional hour thereafter.
Belinda has suggested that two go at a time to the group sessions while the other two stay back
and man the floor for customers.
Isaac has also discovered that there are some online YouTube videos that the team could watch
with handy hints and informative info sessions on how to deal with common difficulties when using the
new system.
Azad wasn’t too keen on changing to the new system but since then has done some research on
it and discovered that there are many benefits to switching. Time spent on reporting will be minimised
as well as the ease of use when it comes to accessing client records and syncing bank records with the
accounting records.
You know that Isaac has very good IT skills and is probably the best in that area within your
team and picks up on things very quickly.
The busy times in the store are usually after lunch and especially around 3:30 pm, as a lot of
parents bring their children after school to look at the range of toys and books that you supply.
