Overview
The present study is based upon the case study of Sim's Hardware which has more than
138 stores. The chosen business problem for the study is Globalization and for that the entire
study is based upon. The entire study is divided into three task that helps to explain the methods
which are used in order to determine the key challenges which a company face.
TASK 1
Part A
1. Research purpose and questions
The purpose of research is to understand foreign cultures while penetrate into new
market with an existing product and services for attracting new customers. Through this, scholar
investigate how Sim's hardware mitigate the challenge of globalization such that cultural
differences and provide solutions to overcome the problem of globalization which affect the
company. Also, study main aim is to examine how globalization's challenges may affect the
entire business.
Question
 What are the challenges of globalization did Sim's Hardware face?
 Recommend the way through which help to minimize the challenges of globalization
within Sim's Hardware.
2. Description of geographical, cultural, social and institutional context
As per the geographical context, the research will be carried out in Netherlands and
cultural social context are the people to whom company is target. For that, company target upper
class, higher upper class people, and the retail hardware stores who prefer to purchase the
product at wholesale price (in bulk). Further, for institutional context, the research will be
carried out in the franchising institution who help Sim's Hardware to provide a loan facilities.
3. Policies and procedure for conducting research
In order to conduct the research in proper manner, scholar make sure that they company
with all ethical consideration and also respect for person. Also, comply with Data Protection Act

in which they researcher has to make sure that proper confidentiality is maintain and develop
policies that aid to avoid research misconduct. Further, Australia has to comply with code of
conduct which assist to perform research in more precise manner.
4. How data will be collected and stored
For getting proper answer of all the research question, both primary and secondary data
collection are used. Such that under secondary data, relevant sources are used that assist to
determine the way through which challenges of globalization are minimized (Fletcher, 2017).
While under primary data, scholar conduct survey through which respondents views are
determine for meet the define aim. Also, the data are stored within a laptop in which make sure
that these data are not used for personal purpose.
5. Research Methodology
Research philosophy and Approach: To conduct the research in effective manner,
Interpretivism research philosophy and Inductive approach is carried out in order to examine the
challenges which affect Sim's Hardware while operating globally (Hoddy, 2019).
Data Collection: Both primary and secondary data collection methods has been adopted
that assist to collect information in order to make decision better. Further, with the help of these
methods, scholar get the answer and take a study at right direction.
Data Analysis: Thematic analysis is used under data analysis section in which views are
interpreted in better and presentable manner by using graphs and tables that assist to meet the
define aim.
Sampling: Simple random sampling method is chosen in which 20 managers of Sim's
Hardware are selected that assist to share their views in order to get accurate answer of the
research question.
6. Factor that affecting integrity, validity and reliability
Integrity is affected when researcher so not comply with the code of conduct and this is
some how affect the entire methods which are used by the researcher in order to generate the
results. While, the factor affected validity of the research is time such that due to less time,
researcher do not collect the best results and it affect results. On the other side, reliability is
depend upon the source of data collection and if researcher use old books and articles then they
cannot get accurate results.

7. Limitation
For the current study, research faces limitation such that lack of time which affect the
entire results. As for conducting the entire project, they require enough time but this is not
possible within the study (Holmlund, Witell and Gustafsson, 2020). Also, due to low sample
size, researcher also do not get proper views which somehow affect the entire project.
8. Justification of relevance of research
The chosen strategy while conducting a study in order to meet the research aim is both
primary and secondary data collection method. So, with the help of these sources, investigator
get transparent information which in turn assist to meet the define aim and objective. Further,
using thematic data analysis under qualitative study, scholar also interpret the views of
respondents in order to examine the challenges face by company while operating at global level.

Qualitative study is used in order to determine the in-depth analysis over quantitative. It
is so because it provide detail understanding of the ways people come to understand and manage
activities in order to met the particular aim. Further, first hand source and secondary data are
used which in turn examine that changes in cultural differences while operating a business at
different country is consider the biggest challenge that affect the entire business. That is why,
there is a need to minimize the challenge so that Sim's hardware operate in better manner and
collect proper information related to globalization.
2. Presenting methods and techniques for optimize data collection and analysis
Data collection method: Primary data collection method are used for the study because
it is a first hand sources which is more reliable as compared to secondary data and this method is
used by the scholar in order to collect information for specific purpose of their study (Kumar,
2019). In the present study, questionnaire related to challenges of globalization is asked that
assist to elicit the data with a help of study and answer the research questions. Further, under
secondary study different sources are uses, like books, articles, annual report of a company that
was actually collected for other purpose in order to get results.
Data Analysis method: for getting proper outcome, scholar uses thematic data analysis
method that assist to interpret the information in the context of business problem. Such that it
also allow to approach large data set more easily by sorting them into a broad themes. In the

same way, to get accurate results and also provide in depth analysis, this method is analyzed for
conducting the research in effective manner.
3. Justification for selected methods and techniques
For analyzing the data, thematic data analysis is used that help to meet the define aim
because it is more flexible approach which modified for the needs for many studies and also get
the best results as well. While on the other side, through qualitative study, researcher also
perform in-depth research in order to meet the define aim (Mohajan, 2018). Also, with the help
of primary data, scholar collect fresh information with regards to selected business problem
while on the other side, with the help of secondary research, data are collecting by someone
which is time saving and cost effective.
Further for suitable technology, researcher uses online application in order to send the
questionnaire to the selected respondents which in turn assist to meet the define aim and also
conduct the research in more precise manner as well.

Primary data: Questionnaire is designed under survey method because it assist to meet
the define aim and this help to examine the main challenges which company face while

operating globally: A study on Sim's Hardware.
While the purpose of the study is to analyze the challenges face by a firm in order to
operate at different country and it is initiated by CEO of Sim's Hardware and it is for quoted
company so that it make a strategy to minimize the challenges and sustain a brand image at
international level.

 What are the challenges company face with regards to globalization?

topic because it assist to enhance the current knowledge and this in turn assist to determine the
ways through which the challenges are minimized. Further, it is also analyzed that with the help

The chosen strategy for the the current study is qualitative research method over
quantitative because it allow to reach a higher sample size and also investigator collect the
information quickly as compared to other methods (Morriss, 2020). Further, with the help of this
strategy, investigator also gain an understanding of underlying reasons and provide insights into
a problem. In the same way, the current study is based upon a problem and that is why, with the

the a study. On the other hand, trends within a market are keep changing and that is why, it is
consider as a risk for the researcher because it may leads towards wrong results (Ngozwana,
2018). Further, another risk which is face by the researcher are the accessibility through which

and this affect the research in opposite manner.
7. Implication of research
The investigation will assist Sim's Hardware to examine different challenges while
operating at global level. Currently company has more than 138 stores and more than thousands
of employees working under it. Thus, it is clearly shows that company have a brand image at
international level and that is why, there are many challenges which a firm faces like, cultural
issues, language barrier, changes in company's policies etc. Thus, with the help of the current
study, quoted firm determine the problem associated with globalization.
8. Re-evaluation of data and research findings
In order to perform the data in better manner, scholar should make sure that they comply
with the Data protection act and adhere the legal and ethical consideration so that it do not affect
the findings in opposite manner. Moreover, the research findings which Is gather by using
primary and secondary data should also reliable and valid, otherwise it affect the results in
opposite manner (Ørngreen and Levinsen, 2017). In addition to this, the reliability and validity is
tested for the secondary data by collecting data which are published latest in order to meet the
define aim. Also for primary research, investigator should take a consent from the respondents
and also adherence to rules, regulation, guidelines by following commonly accepted professional
codes as well as standard.
9. Research findings can be used in other settings
The findings which are collected by using appropriate data collection methods, can also
be used in other areas as well. Such that with the help of identification of different challenges
which company face while operating globally, also assist to take measurement which in turn
raise the company's brand image at different level. Also, this study is also applicable when
company is planning to extend its operation at different country so that different issues are
identified and recommendations are also helpful to minimize the issues.

For in future, scholar will use quantitative study which in turn assist to collect accurate
results and also meet the define aim. But this method is takes long time and that is why, this is
not not used by the researcher (Roberts, Dowell and Nie, 2019). Further, real life case study are
also used that assist to determine many other challenges which a company face while operating

Communication process is the step which is taken in order to make sure that the flow of
communication is better. Thus, it is the process through in which the transmission of sender's
ideas to the receiver and then receiver make a decision. Further, there are different methods
through which the communication is done like, non- verbal, verbal, written, listening and visual.
Generally, company use verbal and written form of communication method which help to meet
the define aim.
2. Two research tools
Qualitative research: This tool is used to explore the values, opinions and behavior of
an individual in order to understand how these affect the individuals. With the help of this
method, scholar also determine the perception of the selected respondent and this in turn assist to
meet the define aim.
Quantitative research: This method involves the collection and analysis of objective
data in a numerical form and also determine prior to start of a data collection but it is not flexible
in nature. Further, this method is used to standardize to minimize and control the possible bias.

The 4 major tools through which data could be gathered are as follows-
Questionnaire- It means as the process of obtaining data by using an instrument
comprising of set of the questions for participant in order to receive response from them. It is
been designed for collecting information from the group. This tool is found as easy to visualize
and assess along with covering each and every area. It is also considered as inexpensive tool as
compared to other data collection tools. However, the major limitation of this method is that
sometimes the questions are left as unanswered.
Interviews- It refers to direct or face-to-face communication between two persons in
order to gather appropriate information for satisfying the research objective. Different types of
the interviews are been conducted that includes structured, unstructured & semi-structure. This
technique enables the scholar in uncovering rich, learning and deep insight information which
they had missed (Morriss, 2020). The presence of interviewer could provide the participant with
additional comfort at the time of answering questionnaire and in ensuring true accurate
interpretations of questions. On the other side, ensuring effectiveness of overall exercise,
interviewers needs to be well trained and skilful with respect to the subject matter.
Research Journals- It is been intended for the technical and an academic audience and
not for the general readers. It refers to the scholarly publication containing an article written by
different authors, professors, researchers and the other experts. Collecting information from
journal incurs very less or no cost, however, correctness of such information may be questioned
as it is gathered from the available sources.
Survey- This tool is been used for collecting an information from sample population, with
intention of generalizing results to the larger population. Surveys have range of the purposes and
could be carried out in several ways as depending on objectives that are required to be
accomplished.
4. Explaining factors that might impact reliability or validity of the data
An investigator might exclude the outliers from assessment as there are various factors
