Question 1 Identify and detail relevant WHS Acts, regulations and codes of practice in
Australia.
Answer:
The WHS relies on 3 main core objectives which
are
Hazard identification: It consists of identifying
and spotting of specifics of process that can
cause harm to individuals at a workplace.
Risk Assessment: It involves analyzing the
changes of hazards causing harm to the workers
along with the degree of damage.
Control of Hazards & Risk: This core objective
allows in measurement the aspect of
prevention, elimination as well as reduction of
hazards and its risk at the workplace.
The Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS
Act) helps in providing essential balance and a
structured as well as a uniform framework
across Australia in order to protect the health
and safety of workers at the workplace. This act
of WHS is crucial for the works as it helps in
ensuing that all criteria are met relative to their
safety at the workplace.
The Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011
(WHS Regulations) allows in the stipulation of
the necessary requirements that are essential
to support the duties provided by the WHS act.
In addition to this, it also helps in dictating the
overall procedures as well as administrative
requirements that are vital for the WHS act to
function in a systematic and structured way.
Model Codes of Practice are practical
guidelines that outline how the standards of the
required WHS Acts and Regulations will be
fulfilled. It consist of codes such as How to
manage and control asbestos in the workplace,
how to manage work health and safety risk
along with Managing electrical risk and
managing psycho-social hazard at work.
