INTRODUCTION
On the basics of the modern era, the preferences of the customers are changing rapidly as per
the time so it is mandatory for the industries to balance their operations systematically. It is
analysed that there is lots of competition in retail industry which can give the direct affect on the
working & operations of the enterprises. There is a requirement to follow all the practices &
approaches of the management & operations. Basically management & operations is like a area
of management which can aid in designing & controlling the entire process of the production,
manufacturing & redesigning the specific business operations in context of products & services.
Managers & leaders both are need to become concerned about their respective roles & duties in
order to gain high profitability. This project will help to analyze the Burberry management &
operations system so that company can effectively manage their business operations in adverse
situations. Burberry is large British luxurious fashion house which founded by the Thomas
Burberry in the year 1856 & it headquartered in Horseferry Road, London. The prime purpose
of this project is to explain about various roles & characteristics of leaders & managers & many
models & theories also determine in this project. Furthermore, this project evaluates the values &
significance of operational management. Lastly, this project will analyze various factors of the
business environment in order to consider the impact on operational management & decision
making of all managers & leaders

P2 Role of a leader & the function of a manager apply in different situational contexts.
To obtain the success in an organization, the involvement of leaders & managers are more.
The leaders & managers are responsible to maintain their role & functions as per the various
situations. The role of the leaders & the functions of the managers of Burberry are determined on
the basis of various situations.

Introduce new goods - This situation is maintained determined the launching new goods
so that company can effectively improve their market value. The role of leader is more
appropriate because they need to handle the whole team members who are involved in
this new project task. Some specific roles performed by the leader of the Burberry like
assign regular task to teams members, maintain chain of command, effective
communication, coordination & support. Leader is responsible to demonstrate proper
direction to their teams so that they can effectively produce new goods for the company.
There are numerous kind of functions performed by the manager of the Burberry in order
to launching a new good in the market (Aydogmus and et. al., 2018). Manager is the one
who is responsible to execute proper planning related to the new good and then analyze
all the resources which are necessary e to produce a new good. Planning, organizing,
directing, controlling & coordinating all these functions performed by the manager so
that it is making possible to produce goods properly.
Business Expansion - This is also a very different and changing situation for the
Burberry. To expand their business operations in other location is a big challenge for the
company because there are so many activities performed by leaders & managers.
Manager is responsible to arrange market research and identify preference & requirement
of the people who are living that particular area in which Burberry want to expand their
business. Manager prepares a strategic plan and creates an effective team who can
perform well for the business expansion project. Leader is liable to lead their team
members and also continuously connect with them so that leader can dissolve all the
issues that can be arising with their team members. Leaders provide specific guidelines to
their team which are mandatory to follow each & every members in order to operate
business in other location successfully (Ayman and Lauritsen, 2018).
