.INTRODUCTION
Skills are founded in every individual out of these are some employability also which
is necessary for getting better future opportunities. Business management division is an
essential part of an organisation. There are various roles and responsibilities of the business
advicer such as market anlaysis, providing better investment options, growth of business in
market area and so on (Benson, Morgan and Filippaios, 2014) . This report will help in better
understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the busines advicer within Marriott
International. Also, various methods of conducting interview would be covered in the
discussion such as STAR method, etc..

1. Identify strength of desired career by critically appraising elements of Cilfton Gallup
strengths and Johari’s Window theories
Every individual have some strength which help them in becoming employable. In
Marriott hotel vacancy of Business advicer also requires some skills as well as strength so
that they can perform roles and responsibility in easy manner (Collet, Hine and du Plessis,
2015). There are some theories given by the author which specify strength of business
advisor in respective hotel are explained below with the implementation of Cilfton Gallup
and Johari’s Window theories.
There are some strength involved in the Cilfton Gallup theory these are focusing,
easily accepting chnages and market anlysis which is required in individual for becoming an
perfect business advisor. Because business advisor have to focusing towards the Hotel so they
can give better investment plan as well as expansion opportunities. Moreover, there are
several responsibilities which need to fulfil such as monitor local business and establish
methods for their own organisation future development, evaluation of sales as well as
marketing plan for making changes if required, prepare budget for business and many more
(Tsitskari and et.al., 2017).
Johari’s Window model hep individual in improving their perceptions on other.
Through this model business advicer of Hotel Marriott can enhance their skills and brush up
strength which is necessary for remaining in competitive business environment.

I have market analysis skills which are necessary for advising Marriott hotel and
taking better business decisions.
Along with this, i can take responsibility related advice given by me which is very
important because sometimes business environment changes and it may create any
problem.
Focusing is one of my strength this is necessary while doing any important work in
the company as well as daily life.
2. Apply elements of theories for achieving career aspirations
Cilfton strength finder assessment was framed under the leadership of educational
psychologist Donald Clifton. Motive behind creating this model is to identify the skills and
make improvement if required. Cilfton Galup theory have several strength out of which some
are Focusing, responsible and market analysis, making proper investment plan and so on is
required for applying the job position of business advisor in the hotel Marriott (Asiri,
Greasley and Bocij, 2017). As an, business advisor is the hotel Marriott I need these three
strength in me which is build by the implementation Cilfton Galup theory in my daily life.
Johari's Windows model is the simple tool which utilise for illustrating as well as
improving self-awarness. Along with this, it also assist in enhancing understanding within
individual and groups. The Johari Window actually represents information, feelings,
experience, views, attitudes, skills, intentions, motivation and so on which is about a person
in relation to their group. Johari’s Window model also assist in the same manner by providing
better future opportunities in the area of business management because it help in improving
my perception towards other people which is necessary for taking better business decision as
well as this is the only way by which proper investment can be done.
3. Companies along with their history, values and ethics
Hospitality is a vast industry. There are many companies serving in this field. Marriott
International and Hazlitt’s are the two example of hotel industry.
Marriott International - It is an American multinational hotel company which
provides hotels and lodging services in 127 countries in more than 6,500 properties across the
world.

History- Marriott was founded by John Willard Marriott in 1927. However, Marriott
International was formed in 1993 during the time when Marriott Corporation split into
2 companies by the name of Marriott International and Host Marriott Corporation
(Pusey-Murray, Daly and Stewart, 2018). In 1995, it was the first hotel organisation to
offer online reservation services to its customers across the world. This was done with
the help of MARSHA which stands for Marriott’s Automatic Reservation System for
Hotel Accommodation.
Values- Marriott International believes in putting people first. Providing excellent
services is their core value (Jackson, 2014). Additionally, the respective hotel believes in
embracing the change in order to cop up with the latest trends and provide the
services as per the changing needs.
Ethics- The safety and security has always been the top most priority of Marriott. The
security procedures and risk assessments are reviewed on frequent basis. The staff
members are trained to respond quickly in threatening situations.
Hazlitt’s - It is a townhouse hotel which is located in London, UK. It is a boutique
hotel with the total number of 30 rooms and 4 floor count. The rooms are designed with four
poster beds, antique and old paintings and claw footed baths.
History- Hazlitt’s is owned by Peter Mckay and Douglas Blain. The hotel property
was named after the essayist William Hazlitt who died in 1830. The hotel is very
much popular amongst the writer, actors, models and artist due to its heritage.
Hazlitt’s also received an award of Cesar Award for London hotel of the year in 2002.
Values- Hazlitt’s concentrates on providing civilised surroundings, old fashioned
hospitality and friendly services (Rao, 2014). The hotel organisation also focuses on
the location of the hotel which should be near the important attractions of the city.
Ethics- The staff members of the hotels have been trained to manage any
contingencies. Additionally, there are all the security equipments present in the hotel
such as fire extinguishers, emergency numbers, etc.
4. How do elements of each company’s value and ethics align with yours?
Ethics and value of above mention hospitality organisation are aligning with my
employability skills and strength. Because all these are related to work of business advisor

within organisation. Thus, all these help me in doing my work in more better manner as well
as also in doing recruitment and selection process in correct manner by putting right person at
right place.
5. How networking can help in becoming more commercially aware of your sector?
Networking is related to the entire procedure of creating and utilising computer
networks, related to hardware, protocols and software, including wired as well as wireless
technology. It includes the application of theories from various technological fields, like IT,
computer science and computer/electrical engineering. Networking simply means the any tool
through which data and information can be share with the help of any tool and technique such
as advertisement, social network, telecommunication and so on. Most important is that
individual can gain knowledge about everything with the help of networking. Such as new
vacancies related to business management sector also. Along with this, it provides
information related to any updating is hospitality sector because implementing new thing is
necessary so that better results can be gained in future by the Marriott Hotel.
6. Reflect on the networking events you have attended and the experience
Networking is important because it help in easy transferring of any data as well as
information. Moreover, through networking tools and techniques I find out the business

Star method is an acronym of situation, task, action and result which are used by the

5. Reflection
For the post of Business Advisor is the Marriott Hotel there is requirement of several

accept changes easily and many more. Some of these are in me but there are several which
need to be developing so that I can perform role of Business advisor in Marriott Hotel
perfectly. Below mention are some of my weakness which need to be developed :-

My presentation skills are not much good but I am working on it. Because for
explaining anything related to business activity there is requirement of proper
presentation.
Sometimes I get hipper because of changes in wring condition but have to work
patiently because business environment is dynamic in nature and there is changes of
many changes.
These are some skills which I need to develop so that me as an business advisor can
perform my work in better manner.

From the discussion above, it can be concluded that for getting better job position in
the organisation related to any sector there is requirement of employability skills. Moreover,
the role of business advisor division is very important in an organisation. Also, the report
helps us understanding various tools that are used by the interviewers to conduct the
interview in order to understand the capabilities of the candidates. The report also helps in
studying the ethic, values and history of two well known hotels.
