Project Initiation
System definition
A car parking system is an operational system which maintain each car parks on
regular basis, issuing tickets, controlling barriers and handling payments automatically. The
system manages all car parks, generate session tickets, records problems, and monitors the
service-level agreements along with the security for the company which provide guards to the
car-parks (Anderson, Obayi and Okafor, 2017). The cark-park operational system monitoring
entry of each car in the system and exiting the car from parking space along with payment for
individual car-parking.
Problem and issues with the traditional car-parking system
The traditional car parking management is present in all places over the country.
However, the system has lots of problems while managing the car and those are listed below:
In many hospitals, shopping malls there is huge traffic in front of parking. The car-
parking guard stops the vehicles and creates a traffic jam.
It is time-consuming and difficult to keep maintain a parking slot, which is a wastage
of time and takes extra fuel costs.
Another problem in the traditional car parking system is the security of the car (Raza,
Khan and Shaikh, 2017). Any people can be able to enter in the parking slot and the
robbery can happen at any time.
The manual system required to appoint a security guard which is cost-effective.
Project scope & vision
The main aim of the proposed system is to develop an automated car parking system

which allocates each vehicles or transportation automatically. Since transportation is the
backbone of the economy and is used for business and trade. The traditional or manual
procedure is used to park vehicles within a parking space, which maintained in an unplanned
manner and without follows any discipline ((Mahmood and et al. 2018)). This leads to traffic
jams, arguments and creates fights amongst people. Most of the general people faced
problems due to this chaos. To overcome this, an automated car-parking system brings lots of
benefits in the case of managing vehicles within the parking space. It will reduce fuel costs,
reduce the searching time for parking-space and saves time for parking in and parking out.
Also, it will provide security to the vehicle from theft and it is the way a business can earn
more revenue (Schoitsch and et al. 2016). The proposed system introduced a digitalized
system that shows the excellence of engineering in the country.
Stakeholders of the project
Ordinary users – ordinary user clicks on the button, a ticket is auto generated by the
system and the user pay for the use of the car park at the time when they use the
parking-space.
Season ticket-holders – The session ticket-holder uses their session ticket to enter in
the parking space or exits from the parking space.
Analyzing Requirements
Functional requirements
Management as well as maintenance of the parking space for all ordinary customer
and session ticket holders within the car parking field.
Specific controlling upon all the entries of as well as exiting from the car-park
operational system.
Maintain a separate database that stores all the related information of the incoming as
well as outgoing of car.
Maintenance of a specific database that stores all the information related to payment
of the ordinary customer as well as the session ticket holder for future references.

Monitoring of a specific database related to the information of tickets issued to each
customer either ordinary or session holder for future references.
Maintenance of a specific database that stores all the information related to ticket-no,
ticket issuing time, tickrt issuing date and payment details.
Getting hold of the specific car number that leaving the parking after the customer
insert ticket and the system must generate a barcode (Stellet & et al. 2015).
Non-functional requirements
The newly proposed system Car-park system consists of a presence of the number of non-
functional requirements for making a better understanding of the system (Soni, Kaur and
Kumar, 2016.). Those are considered as the necessary measures for a better understanding of
all requirements and the working of the system. These are mentioned below:
The proposed system consists of a responsive user interface which monitoring on all
the operation day-to-day.
The user interface of the proposed system must be highly responsive, and the response
time within 5 seconds.
The specific system must ensure that it is capable of working with Microsoft
Accessibility.
Operators shall be capable to get done with their work under the resources available in
the system.
The proposed system should be allowed provision regarding the security measures
related to virus security and cybersecurity.
Requirement specification validation & elicitation
Requirement elicitation technique
Requirement elicitation techniques follow several phases: gathering requirements for the
proposed system, specification of good software requirements, a review for requirement
validation, requirement volatility in the system (Tiwari and Rathore, 2017). In general,

requirement elicitation includes four specific procedures:
Requirements elicitation –the process which allows the users to understand, articulate
their requirements.
Requirement analysis – the process involves activities such as identifying the missing
requirements, combining correlated requirements and examining inconsistencies
(Yousuf and Asger, 2015).
Requirement specification – the process including the recording of the requirements
in the form of formal, graphical, symbolic or natural language representation.
Requirement validation – the process ensuring with the users of the system, that
specified requirements are correct, complete and valid.
