INTRODUCTION
Business analysis and planning refer to all the planning and analysis of the business which are
done to make the best out of the business and fulfil all the goals and objective. Business planning
is important so that when working in business it requires a proper planning which help the
business in getting the goals and objective completed. Planning help in maintaining the business
in the best ways. NHS is known as National healthcare Service, they are providing healthcare
services in all over the UK (Harrison and Association of University Programs in Health
Administration, 2016). NHS is a public funded system which is made to help and aware people
about the health and care. The report will address budget and budget making. The five-year plan
view will be discussed in the report and why the report format is chooses for presentation in local
authority. Report also explain the quantitative and qualitative data types and the ways of
similarities between them. The report will develop a 3year budget plan related to the service
plan.
TASK 1
A) Strategic relevance of the ‘NHS Five Year Forward View’
NHS: - National health services is publicly-funded healthcare system of the United Kingdom.
The founding principle are that service should be comprehensive and should be free at the point
of providing health services in clinical need and not ability to pay. This is one of those services
which provide health care to everyone who need them. Every healthcare service in UK works
independently and are accountable politically to government (Dwipriyoko, Bon and Sukono,
2019). When NHS purchase drugs, they have a separate and significant market for that, based on
fair values of drugs and influence global prices. The local authority in UK providing the best of
NHS in their areas and promoting the services. The district council are helping the district in
getting all the basic facilities to every person so that they feel safe and get the services they
required.
NHS Five year forward view: -
NHS five-year-forward-view on the elderly service are extreme important to them as they
provide all the services to every person even after hospital services which are one of the major
part of NHS services. The five-year-forward-view reflect process and working of NHS in future
related to their projects and task. The view of next five-year are focusing on the issue of elderly
services and the need to provide good services to the elderly people. The five-year forward view

measures and set plans accordingly to deliver responsive National healthcare services in UK.
They also need to adapt a lot of new ways to take advantage of opportunities which technologies
and science offer to the patient and the one who serve them. New ways in providing facilities to
the elderly people and services to them by NHS. One in every five person in UK is above
60years of age and the number is rising continuously. NHS is focusing in providing facilities to
the ageing population in UK. District council also make a lot of plans in there five year view to
enlarge the working of NHS in there district and providing all the services to every person.
The healthcare in UK have helped in advance of people in living longer than ever before. Health
services are important for the ageing people so that they can live longer and its important for
government in making new things and policies so that the NHS gets more strength and can help
people in ways which they require. Health issues in old age and elderly group is common and it
can cause serious issues to them which need to be considered (Waggoner, 2019).
The integrated care and support is essential and is made with 12 national partners signed, it is
done to enhance local areas and making them aware about the health and well-being and
bringing the local authorities together to work on this. NHS provide services of housing service,
education services, healthcare, public health and are taking everyone to take step towards
integration.
Relevance strategies of NHS five-year plan view: -
The strategies of NHS regarding the issues of elderly service in UK. Those strategies which are
provided by the NHS to the ageing population and elderly group people. Strategies help in
development of the NHS and helping all the elderly people in its development.
1. Supporting people in managing long term condition and living disabilities: -
Coordinated and personal health services needed to help people managing health
holistically as they are getting old they are facing a lot of issues which need people to
help them in all ways as possible. The financial helps and the help in hospitals and after
hospital care. It is important for them to make strategies to look for the relevance of the
plan they are looking in developing all the necessary stuff for the elderly people. The
elderly service from NHS is raising funds and developing new techniques so that they can
support all the people and target segment (Grünig and Kühn, 2018). The situation need a
good lookout as the research is showing that the elderly group age and the ageing of
people in UK is risen to high number and it requires a good support from government to

help and support them in healthcare and provide services. Good health professionals are
required support people in managing long term condition. Professional can help people in
their issues and disabilities and can improve there condition which will further help in
living longer.
2. Help people stay in Work: - it is important to work so that the physical health remain
good and does not get illness and issues (Collins and et.al., 2016). The health need to be
good and people should work even in old age and do some physical work which can help
the body keeping active. It will also improve in development of strength. Everything
depends on the condition of person and its physical strength. NHS should provide
information related to educating them to work and do exercises to remain fit for a long
period. NHS also adopt people with all the age group which is a good way in providing
employment. It includes those who are above 60 years and still they want to work so that
they will earn and stay in working process.
3. Safe and warm housing : - NHS need to play a role in providing a safe and worm
housing for the elderly people and ageing people. Unsuitable housing can impact in well-
being of the person which can impact in negative way. Working closely to social care and
rehabilitation and providing changes in the older people home and making there
environment positive. The environment affects a lot in the development of people so it's
important to make such atmosphere around them which can help in development of there
health and the NHS provide services to increase healthcare. Thinking different is
important as the trends and situations are changing and NHS need to provide more ways
in making things according to the trends. It is important to work with the culture and
making things work accordingly. Providing warm housing and safe environment so that
they feel safe and improve better & quick. Government are funding NHS to improve the
service for people and develop new safe home and housing.
4. After hospital services: - NHS provide services of health and safety to every person, and
they are providing health services, elderly people need a good support even after hospital.
The elder people need a care so that they be safe. After services are important in the
service sector as it is important to provide all the services in the best ways. Ageing people
need a good support from every one weather its mental or physical. Providing nurse to
those who does not have anyone in there family and are critical in situation. It is

important to them to have a good service of healthcare so that they do not harm
themselves after being alone. Taking good review and feedback and working on all the
necessary requirement people want to improve in services.
5. Near and dear ones: - it is important for old age people to have a good bond with there
loved ones and a support from there near and dear ones. NHS should arrange few ways to
make them in get together and helping them in getting variety of activities with there
loved ones. The mental relaxation is one of the thing which help in improving them
faster. Aged people need better mental and physical support than the younger ones.
Staying connected with the ones you like helps in making a good stability in health.
b. Summary on report: -
The report is being chooses because it is one of the best communication way and it helps in
explaining all the necessary details. Report gives consolidated and updated information and helps
in taking better decision and planning. Report also disclose a lot of unknown information on
particular topic (Benitez and et.al., 2019). The information of the report is reliable as the research
of the report is done in the best ways and all the necessary references gives proof of the report
and shows the reliability of it. Written communication is good and suitable for long distance
communication and repetitive standing order. The report is given to local authority as it gives
sufficient time to think and act react on the given topic. It's also a legal document and can be
used in future in any misunderstanding and critical situation. It is suitable also in providing
graphs, statistical data, diagrams etc. it is one of the ways in which the research can be explained
in border term. Also, gives a lot of explanation and are better to present in official and
professional way (Leeftink and et.al., 2020). Good written document also create goodwill and
promote business. In presenting of the annual report to the local authority as all the statistical and
theoretical data is given in the best expressed manner.

1. Key similarities and differences between qualitative, quantitative and secondary data types
The data which is being collected by the organization must be appropriate so that there
would be effective planning and improvement which can take place. It is very important and
essential as well to have all information related to business so that there would be effective
working which is going to be present. There are different types of data collection which is

present in market and would be discussed in the further report so that there would be higher
understanding. Qualitative researches are collecting data which does not include numericals data
but to understand the concepts, opinions or experience in detail. Quantitative researches are
going to consist of investigation of systematic phenomena so that there are going to be right
measures which can be taken by the businesses in the market. This research is also going to
include data and statistics in the research for evidence so that there is going to be effective
understanding.
 Qualitative
NHS is belonging from the health service industry which is why it is very essential for
the firm to have the right and quality information but the services and feedbacks from the
customers so that there is going to be improvement. When the designing and commissioning of
the healthcare service is going to be according to the patience, impact is going to be higher and
conditions as well as experience of the patience is going to improve. The problems are going to
be addressed effectively so that the organization will be able to promote their services
accordingly. There is a certain kind of expectation which the patients also have from NHS since
the organization has been able to make a brand image for themselves worldwide. To be able to
maintain that standard and reputation in the market the organization will have to take such
measures to be able to have a stable economic stability in the country (Barker, 2014). NHS will
have higher structure which would be present in the organization so that the outcomes would
improve which is going to make the organization have higher profitability. There are a lot of
barriers which are present in NHS and that is not an effective way of working and would make
the performance of the business reduce. The true patients voice should be heard by NHS so that
the performance of the organization is going to improve and the organization will be able to stay
in the market which is going to be good for higher outcomes.
 Quantitative
There are a lot of diseases which going to be difficult to cure for the elderly service target
which NHS is having for themselves in the market. It is very important to have a good detailed
information about all the factors associated with the organization and this industry so that there
are right measures and treatments which can be taken out. Health and social care researches have
to be controlled and monitored by the organization so that there would be higher performance
and the company will be able to gain reputation as well. Elderly services are many which are

present in NHS because the organization uses quantitative research method to be able to make
the right measures and strategies for themselves. There has to be effective finding which is
required so that right methods and strategies can be used by NHS (Khaleel and et.al., 2016).
Experience does make a lot of difference in the business to be able to operate effective in this
industry since methods have to be implemented as well in NHS which is going to make the
performance improve. Data collection is essential because the customers also want clear vision
and mission which NHS is having for themselves in the market so that the performance can be
improved effectively. NHS is a foundation trust which is why the organization will have to make
the referring better and make the customers get the best. To ignore corruption and other issues
regarding the functioning of this business data is collected and checked from time to time so that
the trusties of the firm can also have an idea of the measures which are being taken.
 Secondary Data
To have effective further researches it is essential for NHS to refer to data which is
existing so that there would be less time consumption which is going to be present. The results
are also going to be effective in nature and the company will be able to make decisions faster and
effective. Government departments also takes out data of firms in the market which is collected
originally and in health service there have to be good implementation which is required therefore
NHS will be able to operate effectively. Researches is a part of everyday routine of NHS which
is why collecting the right data is important and having the right knowledge is essential therefore
in NHS secondary data is also being collected for higher performance (Deal and et.al., 2017).
There are private practices also present in this industry which are having good research data
which can be used by NHS as well which is going to make the functioning even more effective.
Discrimination, harassment, workforce and delivery of services has to be developed and the
measures which are required by the organization to be able to achieve this factor has to be
present in the organization. Planning is going to be required to improve and for that data has to
be collected so that the functioning is going to be present in the business.
2. Beneficial in helping you complete your annual service review report
Only when the information is going to be high then only the organization will be able to
find out their annual services report. This report is very essential because the organization is
focusing on elderly services since the patients are mostly from this target. From the data

collection there is going to be effective understanding so that there are smooth operations which
can take place. There is going to be good understanding of the patients when there are feedbacks
which are being taken from them so that there would be effective working. The staff can also be
improved and quality of services and products as well by NHS so that the patients can recover
faster and NHS is going to have a higher brand image in the market. Right measures have to be
taken by NHS so that there is going to be treatments which are appropriate and customers can
approach NHS for faster advice on their health and treatments which are going to be appropriate
for them. There are a lot of diseases which are present and in elderly services there have to be
more improvement with time since the expectation is also high. Data which is being collected is
going to make the firm have good understanding development can take place accordingly
(Kurnianto and et.al., 2019). There are a lot of challenges which are present in the service sector
and they have to be improved so that the firm will be able to operate effectively in the market.
Trends, demands, etc. of the patients are changing with time because their lifestyle is improving
which is why NHS will also have to make sure that they are having the right annual report and
analyse it well which is going to make the organization be able to maintain their performance.
Annual report is going to give NHS a good idea of the improvement which the company
has done for themselves and the measures they must be taking so that there would be higher
results. Emotions and respect is present in NHS of the patients which needs to be maintained so
that the organization will be able to operate effectively in the market (Pane and et.al., 2018).
There are a lot of changes which have to come in NHS to be able to operate effectively in the
market and also because it is a trust foundation therefore the results have to be good since all the
stakeholders need to have a clear vision and mission for themselves in this firm. The quality of
services are going to improve so that the organization will be able to operate effectively in the
market so that there would be higher results and in health care services there have to be good
improvement so that the patients are well satisfied. NHS is one of the leading health care service
centre for the patients since they are maintaining their prices and services for them so that they
are satisfied and more people would be able to approach NHS. There are a lot of improvement
which NHS has got like helpline services so that the patients can consult their doctors and give
feedbacks so that their issues and problems can be solved from time to time. There is a proper
connection which the patients are having with the doctors of the service so that there is going to
be higher outcomes and vision of the organization is going to be matched (Horkoff and et.al.,

2018). To collect data there has to be good understanding of the patients of the organization so
that they will be able to develop around that area. The report of NHS is being published from
time to time so that there is going to be good understanding and the functioning of the company
is also going to be strong so that the organization will be able to operate effectively.

Interpretation: -
The budget of the 3-year plan is describing all the expenditures and amount which will be
expended on the project in last 3 year. The budget show all the inflow and out flow of the cash
budget. The five-year plan view shows all the important necessity of the budget which is kept in
mind while making budget (Jalali and et.al., 2019). Planning of the budget is important as the
amount is permanent and limited and the budget need to be understood properly. Identification of
all the important things on which the budget will be expended and the criticality of the things.
The budget need to be expended in such a way that will help in development and growth. The
medium and long term decision are totally dependent on the budget, as all the important decision
related to the buying and purchasing required money and for that budget need to be measure.
The budget is of £1000000 and budget need to be calculated while making decision. The
finance for the first year is £1000000 at the opening. The expenditure include Staffing of
manager, front-line staffing, utilities, rent, stationary, security, electricity, training, licensing,
service etc. the expenditure start in the first year with £17000 to the front-line staffing in the first
year. £10000 will be charged for the staffing of manager, £23000 for the utilities which will be
required. Rent will be charge around £33000 according to the market rate, stationary items will
be costing £12000 in the first year of the budget, electricity charges around £20000 and security
£18000. the training of the people in first year £10000 and for the licensing £14000 and other
services include £42000. After the completion of the first year expenses will be calculated
around £199000 and the remaining amount will be £801000, which will be carried forwarded to
the next year opening balance.
The opening budget for the second year is £801000 and the budget will be expended
according to that. The changing in the rates are due to the inflation and the trends of the market

which need to look forward. The plan is made keeping the inflation in mind which can cost more
then the previous month. The expenditure of second year will be £17000 for the staffing of the
manager, £21000 for the front-line staffing and increase numbers of people in front-line this
time, utilities £34000 the rates get hight as an assumption of increase in cost. £38000 rent
charges, £17000 for stationary expenses, £20000 pounds for security, £34000 for the electricity
cost. Training and licensing will be costing £33000 & £30000, £55000 for other services. The
total expenditure of the second year of budget plan will be costing £299000 and the remaining
amount in second year will be £502000.
The opening budget for 3 year will be £502000. the increase of cost reflect inflation and
market rates which get changes or fluctuated. The staffing manager cost £33000 and the staffing
of front-line £33000, the utilities will be charged around £46000 and the rent will be charged
around £55000 in the third year. Stationary and the security will be £28000 & £40000.
Electricity and other services costing £51000 & £72000 in third year. The raining and the
licensing cost are £48000 and £30000. the grand total expenditure of 3rd year is £436000 with
the remaining surplus of £66000(Ni and et.al., 2018).
Budget is very important in all the process of working, which need to be done in proper ways
and all the planning need to be done in proper manner. When preparing for budget the first thing
is to find all the identification of required things which need to be considered and on which the
amount will be expended. To work in long term and short term goals and decision, a proper
budget required so that the decision related to all the inflow and outflow of cash can be
addressed. Task management is very important as to understand all the task on which they need
to work so that task and objective gets achieved. The grant & reserve of the funding on which all
the budget is made and done. The measure and maintenance of the report and the view on the
five year plan on which everything is working on. It needs to understand the budget and
expenditure so that the money does not get wasted. The service plan of the elderly service people
and old age people on which NHS is working need to be concluded (Barasa and et.al., 2017).
CONCLUSION
Report concluded that it is important to have a good budget and proper planning when doing
business. Planning is one of the most important thing while doing business so that if they miss

anything they can et to know about that and also can eliminate all the issues they are facing.
Planning also improve business and its quality. The report further conclude health care services
and the elderly services which is important to consider in UK as the number of elderly person is
increasing in UK rapidly.
