1.Introduction
An entrepreneur is primarily an individual with a number of attributes and qualities,
but also with possibility of continuous personal development. Passion,
innovativeness, the ability to improvise and the strong desire to succeed are qualities
that define a successful entrepreneur. The aim of this informal report is to write
profiles of three successful entrepreneurs highlighting the personal qualities,
knowledge and behaviours that have led to their success in their chosen field. To
achieve this, aim the report is organised into two major section. Section-1 mainly
focuses on the profiles of three entrepreneurs and these are: Mark Zuckerberg, the
co-founder of Facebook; Dan Isai, the founder of Salad Box in Romania and Bill
Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft. Second section is the summary of the key
findings from the entrepreneurial profiles that includes the most important factors that
were critical to their success.
SECTION-1: Biographical profiles of three entrepreneurs
Profile -1: Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984, in Withe Plains, New York .He laid the
foundation of the world's most successful business, since he was a student when he
created “Facebook”, which has its bases on social networks, a product much loved
by billions of internet users. (Zuckerberg, 2016).
Relied on his knowledge and skills, in 2004, Zuckerberg really set up his future
Facebook company. The idea for Facebook was in Mark`s mind in his days at
Phillips Exeter Academy. The entrepreneurial orientation made Mark Zukerberg
identify the ways to transform his ideas into opportunities. All started with a
photo album, with the contact details of those who appeared in it. His visionary
approach and determination guided him to develop a social networking site to
connect people from different corners of the world at low cost. This idea was not only
to connect people, but he also adopted all business-related aspects that an
entrepreneur adopts before starting a company.
Facebook began to enjoy tremendous success. With the expansion and success,
Mark moved the operational base to Palo Alto, California in June 2004. He managed
to attain the position of a national student network phenomenon ,but unfortunately he
dropped out of Harvard University and he followed his dreams and ran his own
company (Zuckerberg, 2016) .
Since school, Mark was an eminent student, considered a genius by his teachers,
due to his involvement and devotion to science and especially computers. With
these qualities and many more, Mark Zuckerberg developed this successful global
business from a dorm room, currently with an estimated fortune of $57 billion (Davis,
Maida and Saalfeld, 2017)..
All the skills and characteristics of Mark listed above, shows that from an early
age he has had an entrepreneurial orientation that assisted him in
accomplishing his goals and made him a billionaire at the age of 23, when many

people in the world can only dream about having this much wealth, but Mark has in

Biographical Profile 2
Name : Dan Isai
Dan Isai was born and raised in Cluj-Napoca, attended the Baptist Theological High
School and then the University of Economics and Business
Management ,specialising in International Affairs ,at Babes-Boloy University .As a
student ,Dan Isai was trevenning to different countries like America, Italy and
Australia, with the purpose of new ideas of life and culture. Since then ,his business
ideas have helped Dan expand his conceptions as a future businessman. Salad Box
concept came out while he was working in Australia.
He is a young Romanian entrepreneur who started business with healthy food,
respectively salads in his hometown Cluj .It is a simple salad, multiplied to sales of
26 million euros, due to Dan`s ingenuity. The entrepreneur Dan managed to open
this business without having a financial investment, but he took the risk and he
convinced his friend Daniel Lar, to believe in him and his idea, the latter coming with
an investment of 15.000 Euros. Being innovative and full of motivation to achieve
his goals, at the beginning they were 50-50% partners, but later the creator of this
concept, Dan Isai managed to recover most of his company (Wong, Abdoolally,
2017). In 2012 Dan Isai started Salad Box, being a unique and innovative food
concept that turned into the most successful Romanian brand. He started from
a small restaurant in Cluj, and over the time, Salad Box has grown into an
international network covering 3 continents.
At this moment, as we mentioned above, this concept managed to end the financial
year with a sales figure of 26 million euros (Forbes 2020) from product sales and
managed to have over 3.500 employees. Currently, the successful Romanian
entrepreneur has invested in many other projects and businesses around the world,
and he is a shareholder in over 20 other companies. His entrepreneurial experience
is applied in many other fields like real estates, IT and Production .Salad Box
success inspired Dan Isai to extend his vision and he has become a point of
reference for Romanian entrepreneurs in terms of continuous innovation of brands.
Biographical Profile-3: Bill Gates
William Henry Gates III was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle,
Washington. Gates grew up in an upper class family. The Gates family was warm
and close, and all three children were encouraged to be competitive and strive
for excellence. Gates showed early signs of competitiveness when he
coordinated family athletic games at their summer house on Puget Sound. Gates
was a very good reader as a child, spending many hours reading books such as the
encyclopedia. At the age 12, Gates's parents began to have concerns about his
behaviour (Romero, 2016).
Gates graduated from Lakeside in 1973. He scored 1590 out of 1600 on the
college SAT test, a feat of intellectual achievement that he boasted about for

several years when introducing himself to new people. Gates enrolled at
Harvard University in 1973, thinking of a career in law, but Gates dropped out of
college in 1975 to pursue his business, Microsoft, with partner Allen. at the age of
15, Gates and Allen went into business together, developing "Traf-o-Data," a
computer program that monitored traffic patterns in Seattle. Gates and Allen wanted
to start their own company, but Gates' parents wanted him to finish school and go on
to college. Around this time, Allen showed Gates an edition of Popular Electronics
magazine featuring an article on the Altair 8800 mini-computer kit (Tan, 2017).
In 1975, Gates and Allen builted Microsoft, a mixture of "micro-computer" and
"software" .Although the company started out on shaky footing, by 1979 Microsoft
was grossing approximately $2.5 million. At the age of 23, Gates placed himself as
the head of the company. With his acumen for software development and a keen
business sense, he led the company and worked as its spokesperson.
Following the development of software for IBM, between 1979 and 1981 Microsoft's
growth exploded. Staff increased from 25 to 128, and revenue shot up from $2.5
million to $16 million. In mid-1981, Gates and Allen incorporated Microsoft, and
Gates was appointed president and chairman of the board. Allen was named
executive vice president.
3. SUMMARY OF THE FINDINGS
Briefing of profile
Going through the profile of all the three entrepreneur, it has been identified that there
story are very different in term of the struggle but in the end all the three were able to see
good sort of the success from the market. As in the case of Mark Zuckerberg, there was a
idea which was in the mind of the entrepreneur from the starting point itself and on the basis
of the same entrepreneur has plan the future, in the route there were many difficulty which
was seen by entrepreneur as he dropped the collage to pursue with the idea. At the same time
the summary of Dan Isai is too simplified as he was the entrepreneur who has started the
business of healthy food salad in Romania and one day got the idea of selling it into a box to
different consumer. There was a good sort of the struggle which was seen by Isa in process of
this transmission, biggest challenge out of the all which was seen by Isai was not able to
acertain the source through which capital can be financed by the company. So the summary
of two profile is that they got the success by sacrificing something as Mark has sacrificed
studies. At the same time Isai has sacrificed the profit due to lack of finance.
Story of Bill gates was not that struggling one as Bill gates was a bright student from
starting itself and has invented variety of the thing during the studies itself. Building of
Microsoft struck into his mind once he has finished his studies and the idea of Microsoft has
helped in seeing the good amount of the success from the market
Compare and contrast between three
After finding the qualities and defects of entrepreneurs in section two of the
essay, will demonstrate how they have maintained their level of personal and
professional development through their lives as entrepreneurs. One of their
common qualities is the inventiveness and innovation that have made them
world-renowned. However, each of them had their own strategies for approaching
the implemented project. From a parental education point of view the three
entrepreneurs grew up in well-defined families, being encouraged to study, to
progress in their careers since early age. At the same time, it can be observed

that the desire to achieve their dreams pushed Mark Zukerberg and Bill Gates to
give up their studies, while Dan Isai continued his studies until the end. But in
this regard, many theorists (Bruslons-1723, Schumpeter-1950, Drucker-1950) of
entrepreneurship do not consider school dropout an impediment to achieve goals in
life, but consider it an asset. According to Schumpeter (1934), entrepreneurship is
the result between the old society and a new combination of currently existing ideas
in the modern world. One of the most important works in Schumpeter's theory was
the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in the economy. Starting from
Schumpether`s theory, the main characteristic of the three entrepreneurs is the
innovation of their products and projects. According to the times they were living ,it
can be observed that Bill Gates is the oldest one, but he managed to keep going with
the new generations and new technology, while Dan Isai and Mark Zukerberk are
very young entrepreneurs ,to whom current technology has been a good ally. For
theorists Druker (1959), innovation and entrepreneurship are not the main
source to create a new genius, everything has to come step by step, but also
entrepreneurship is about taking risks. Therefore, it can be noticed that one of the
biggest risk of the two entrepreneurs Mark Zukerberg and Bill Gates was to
dropout school, but they believed in their dreams, while Dan Isai took the risk of
starting the business with borrowed money from his friend.
According to McClleland (1960), who developed the motivational theory,
motivation is the key word in everything you want to accomplish. Is a process of
satisfying some needs that are asked for long-term development, but is also the
process of adjusting and fulfilling the objectives (Maslow-1953). This motivational
process has been mentioned here, because it is one of the best skills that
defines the three entrepreneurs. Without motivation, they could not achieve their
goals or to be who they are today. At the same time, all three entrepreneurs had
friends who joined them in developing projects, which means that they had a strong
power of affiliation (McClelland, 1971).
All the skills, qualities and opportunities mentioned above led Mark Zukerberg, Dan
Isai and Bill Gates to the passion, inventiveness, the ability to improve to a strong
desire to succeed, all the qualities that define a successful entrepreneur.
Success factor
After going through the story of all three entrepreneurs it can be said that
attitude of all the three entrepreneur toward achieving the goal. As it has been
identified that all the entrepreneur were goal oriented in the nature. In the case of
Mark Zukerburg, he was so goal oriented that he was dropped out from the college
but he has pursued with his idea. At the same time in the case of Dan Isai he was so
goal oriented that he has decided to offer the half the share of the company for the
sake of just 15000 pound. This confidence has only helped him in seeing good
amount of the success in the market. In the case of Bill Gets this attitude has only
helped him in seeing the success but in different way, as it was identified that he was
confused between the parents ambitions and his goal but after some time he was
clear about the idea and go on with the idea which was possess be him and this has
only helped him in seeing the success. So the thing which used to stand out in the
success of all three entrepreneur is Goal oriented attitude toward different work.
Another factor was the decision making which has played a very crucial role in
their success, as there were many situation in front of all the three to make the

different decision. This decision has been reflected on the success of the
entrepreneur.
4.Conclusion
After conducting the report it has been concluded that there are many different thing
which is possess by all the three entrepreneurs, one of such thing is the attitude
which is possess by them as all the entrepreneur was very goal oriented. Also
decision making was a thing which has helped them in seeing good amount of the
success in the market. Also this report conclude the variety of the skill set and
unique characteristic is being possess by them in the market. These report also goes
on to conclude that there was some differ situation through which all the three
entrepreneur has gone to see good amount of success in the market.
