POST 1
Internal business communication can be defined as the passing of information between
the employees of the same organization in order to attain the financial projections of the
organization (Quirke, 2017). In other words, it can be described as the depending on information
within an organization by its employees. In order to learn the importance of business
communication in further details the different variety of exemplary business communication are
discussed as follows:
Upward communication: This type of information mainly flows upwards from the
subordinates to the managers (Verčič & Vokić, 2017). It is important for the managers to
understand what is going on by the employees so the upward flow of information helps
the management to keep updated.
Downward communication: This type of communication flows from the supervisor to the
subordinates generally to give them orders of what needs to be done. This type of
communication is mainly done through letters, memos and emails (Verčič & Vokić,
2017). It is important for the leaders to promptly communicate with the subordinates to
ensure smooth functioning of work.
Lateral communication: It is basically the communication between the coworkers via
talking, messaging and emails (Quirke, 2017). Lateral communication also happens when
there is communication between different departments of the organization.
However, proper business communication has certain characteristics and they are
mentioned as follows:
Clarity: It is very important to share clear information so that the receiver understands it
properly and can avoid confusion.
Simplicity: The language chosen should be simple and professional. Everyone should be
able to understand the language.
Attention: It is very important for the receiver to be attentive in order to understand the
message correctly (Quirke, 2017).
Proactive participation: A good communication needs the involvement of both the
speaker and the receiver.
