Assignment 02 Literature review Organisational development and achievement of the goals and objectives are most often facilitated through effective communication as it enables the management of an organisation to build liaison with the staffs of the organisation. It motivates the staffs to perform at their best level for the attainment of the organisation. Networking can help the management in this context to connect with the staff of the organisation. In the case of multi-national organisation, it is very much challenging for the management to communicate with the staffs. If the management fails to communicate the mission and vision of the organisation properly with the employees of the organisation, the employees will fail to perform as expected. Grafman (2018) said that if anyone fails to explain whatever he wants, he will not be capable to bring the outcomes. For example, if the management of an organisation wants to achieve the vision and mission of the organisation, they need support from the employees. In this context, the first duty of the management of the organisation is to communicate the vision and mission of the organisation with the employees. If the vision and mission of the organisation are vague to the employees, they will not be able to set their target properly. George Shaw (2010) said that effective communication hampered by cultural differences which is a potential threat in case of achievement of a particular objective. For example, a multi-national organisation has an operation in the different region of the world so the employees of the organisation must be from different culture. The views of people from different culture and the ways they communicate are not identical which creates a barrier on the way to the achievement of sustainable development. Peter (2009) said that not only speaking but also listening is also most important and crucial factor which requires to accomplish effective communication. 3
In this context, the HR manager of an organisation not only provides instructions to the employees of the organisation to reach the objectives but also listen to the views and ideas of the employees of the organisation. The management of the organisation must ensure the proper and smooth flow of authentic information within the organisation. James Humes (2010) said that language barrier is another major factor that negatively affects the effective communication within an organisation. In this context, the management of the organisation must try to memorise some common word of a different language which will create positive impression among the employees. According to the Oxley (2009), “Proficiency in a different language will have a great impact on effective communication as it can be defined as the art of communication across the culture”. Channel should be developed within an organisation which will enable the employees to share their views and ideas and to receive direction and information. It will support the management to convince the mission and vision of the organisation to the employees easily. 4
