Definition of academic and professional integrity:
Academic integrity is the ethical policy of academia. Late Don McCabe is called as "grandfather
of academic integrity”. According to me, the role of the academic integrity refers to avoiding
plagiarism. It defines making sure that one provide credit to any other person whose work one
use instead of claiming that works of others. The definition of academic integrity is to refrain
from cheating the rules that have been set down for a specific assignment. I have seen my
professor who is having academic integrity and found that this attitude makes him the more
trustworthy person in the view of others. So, it can be said that academic integrity entails
fairness, responsibility, respect, fairness and trust.
In the context of professional integrity, I have analyzed that a professional is one who eagerly
adopts and continuously applies the skills, knowledge, and values of the selected profession.
Integrity can be the most effective word used to elaborate the person who has the desire to act
continuously as per social standards of society (Stout, 2011). I have observed that professional
integrity can be maintained through anticipating ethical conflicts, communicating with civility
and giving proper attention to the ongoing society. Ethical behaviour and professional integrity
are vital for personal credibility and professional success in the business world (Moate, 2011).
The role of personal credibility is huge in building good bonding on the basis of mutual respect
and trust, providing to attaining outcomes. In a nutshell, it shall be stated that professional
integrity refers the professional behaviour within the workplace, no matter what kind of situation
is ongoing.

A person who has integrity is someone who is reliable and honest. For students, their values and
morals demonstrate their credibility and character. At university, upholding academic integrity at
the time of earning a degree, represent their honest academic completion. Academic integrity is
imperative within the professional world and university. For instance, in 2015, two doctors of
Toronto, were pressurized to apologise for scientific paper from the American Journal of
Pathology because of the allegations of misrepresentation. The second article of them has been
apologised for concerns of misrepresentation. It has been found that one of them was not
involved in such a scenario but both of their names on the paper. One of them resigned from
their position, a title she held for over a decade. These consequences of these sorts of allegations
can put an adverse impact on the credibility of all researchers (Cairns, 2017).
Importance of professional integrity
I will improve an account of professional integrity in the form of distinct virtue, entailing
receptiveness of assurance as well as fidelity. This perception will be enhanced in a loosely
Aristotelian process, as an answer to both alternatives that produce to be professional integrity.
One of these perceptions highlights loyalty to the ends of practice of professional, as in education
or health; this can be referred to as the technological view. There is another alternative defines
professional integrity as a substance of conceptually and assurance identical to common
integrity, this can be referred to as generic view (Wiseman, Haynes and Hodge, 2013).
Professional integrity is discrete from commonplace truthfulness but not on account of a direct
promise to profession-specific ends. What builds professional integrity different is the way in
which it calls for an interpretive decision of what the role necessitate.
