Nowadays, each firm is trying to improve cultural and communication issues which helps
to gain the sustainable development. Because, each firm is trying to expand its operations
globally. If anyone have foreign clients, then the communication and cultural issues would arise
which ultimately cause misunderstandings that harms firm's bottom line (Burke, 2013). Inter-
cultural communication is a crucial topic which ultimately assist the firm to improve their
performance. Under the cite report, staff of Pine Pine care home work together to render care
treatment for their senior citizens. Although, communication is disconnected between Pine Park
and service users. This communication is disconnected due to the cross cultural and
communication issues.
As efficient communication with people of various cultures is mostly challenging. As cultures
renders people with diverse ways of thinking- like- manner of seeing, hearing and assessing of
planet.
Henceforth, the same words could mean diverse things to people from various cultures,
although, they are having same language. If the language of the individuals are diverse then in
that case, there is a need to inter-prate them by way of communication tools other than language.
Although, this has been seen that the staff members are required to use certain effective
communication tools and tries to overcome communication issues so that the business can reduce
these kinds of problems. The staff members of the cited firm needs to use certain communication
tools and make a strategy so that the these kinds of communication barriers can be overcome.
However, there are certain tools by which the company can manage the conflicts or others ways.
There ahave emerge so many research, which are used by organisations in order to manage
conflicts. There are certain communication strategies which are used by the firm which helps the
firm to ignore or eliminate conflicts. There are five strategies which are used by the firm for
handling conflicts (Crews, and Stitt-Gohdes, 2012). These are: Competing, avoiding,
accommodating, collaborating and compromising. Competing is the major one which have
strong position in handling the conflicts.

Competing: This management styler of conflicts indicates a great concern for self and low
concern for other. At the time of compete, firm is attempting to overcome the conflicts at the
option of loss of other person. The competing style likewise covers the use of powers, which
might be coercive or non-coercive. The non-coercive parts covers requesting and persuading. At
the time of requesting, there is a need to advise the conflicts partners to change behaviour. If the
firm, persuade, then the company provides conflicts partner reasons to help firm request.
Appreciating cultural values:
Correspondence issues regularly get from essential contrasts in values between societies.
For instance, Latin American, Asian and Mediterranean societies regularly impart as much
through outward appearance and manner of speaking as through words. Then again, English-

Cultural and Communication barriers in Pink Parks:
Pink parks is providing the services for the benefit of elderly residents. Large number of
volunteers are working in team to provide the services to these elder residents. But cultural and
communication issues are raise in between these team members and elderly residents. This
situation hinders the services of pink park. Under the given scenario, a complaint was produced
by the David who was the son of Adriana, the service user. Under this case, Mr. David's mother
was not allowed to take apple, which is outrageous. This is the duty of the care taker to give

apple to the patients as apple keeps the patients away from disease. But pine park staff was not
well educated to their job profile and also have communication and cultural gap due to the cheap
foreign residents. Hence, there is a need to know about the cultural and communication different
between those parties. Those issues which affects the communication between team members
and elderly residents are described below:
 Emotional barriers: This includes the barriers related to emotions of team members.
Some persons of team are find difficulty to express their emotions and topics which
creates conflicts between the members of team. This covers the large conflicts not limited
to politics, religion, disabilities, racism etc.
 Lack of attention, interest, distractions to receiver: These team members are working
for the benefit of elderly residents. Non cooperation of these residents creates the barrier
among the team members and such residents. This will affects the services of pink park
and communication issue leads to breakdown (Guffey and Loewy, 2012).
 Difference in perception and viewpoint: The difference between the viewpoints of
different team member also affects the services of pink park. This will creates the
communication gap and conflicts between team members and hinders the growth of
services. This will reduce the effectiveness of services of trust.
 Physical disabilities: The physical disabilities of elderly residents like hearing problem
and speech difficulties affects the working of team. These problems creates the
communication barrier among team members and elderly residents. This will be consider
as one of the barrier which brings breakdown in communication.
 Physical barriers regarding non-verbal communication: The team members of pink
park does not have the ability to communicate non verbally affects the performance and
creates communication barrier among the services between team and elderly residents.
 Language differences: The language differences between team members and elder
residents affects the communication between them. This will be consider as
communication barrier and affects services of the trust.
 Expectations which may lead to false assumptions: Without hearing properly these
persons jump on incorrect solutions this will creates the communication gap between
them. This will affects the ability of team members in giving their services.

 Cultural differences: The team members have to provide their services in different
cultures. Every individual of society have different behaviour and attitude. This will
affects the performance of team members (Li, 2012).
Recommendation and Conclusion:
An organisation require effective communication flow for conveying message of vision
of the organisation. The company Pine Parks is a non profit oriented company that provide
services to elderly citizens. The organisation is a care company that can not afford conflicts as it
impact on the productivity of worker and services which is given to the employee. For filing the
gap in communication company can adopt various effective techniques or methods of interaction
within the organisation (Paulson, 2011). Company can organise interactive sessions such as
meeting, conferences and events for establishing proper communication among the workplace.
The organisation can start some campaign for appreciating the values or culture of the employee
groups. This avail the worker familiarising with the working environment. Also company can
send the message of Unity in diversity through maintaining the facility of outfit determination for
entire staff. Also, there are various other techniques which are effective for Pine Parks i.e.
meeting expectations, giving gifts or not, understanding the differences between language,
celebrating the culture or festival of other culture and providing equality in the matter of
performance or work to the workers (BUSINESS COMMUNICATION PROJECT, 2012). Thus,
by managing these activities in their workplace, the company can manage the communication
gap and form a good understanding among the employee or workers.
