1BUSINESS COMMUNICATION Overview The following paragraphs will endeavor to discuss about the four selection criterions of oral communication skills, self-motivation, professional networking and cooperative skills. This will also try to generate personal opinion.In addition to this, these paragraphs will try to focus on the criteria of self-motivation. First Draft The central statement is that self-motivation is one of the key selection criterions that help both candidates and employers in understanding the inherent potential of candidates.The factor of self-motivation paves the way for independence and the ability to solve problems on an individual level without the assistance of others.The group of four students had reviewed the four major key selection criterions to analyze the importance and credibility of each criteria. The STAR method comprises of situation, task, action as well as result (Roberts 2013, p. 81-94). It helps in understanding the situations. The situation was that we had to identify four major selection criterions and analyze each one of them to provide constructive feedback to group members regarding the key selection criteria. Each participating member mentioned about their views regarding each criteria. I had presented my chosen criterions for the evaluation by others. Involved as participants in a survey, we tried to identify and evaluate the selection criterions. We had to identify the key criterions based on our experience. The task was to present personal opinions about the various key selection yardsticks. Each one of us had to write our opinions on a blank sheet of paper to simplify the process of

The action was conducted to analyze the intrinsic perspectives of each participant. In order to exemplify our stance, we had to elaborate our points by citing examples and ideas. Each participant had to justify the reasons behind choosing or supporting each key selection criteria. It resulted in the identification of self-motivation and the ability to work independently as major criteria.It also resulted in the creation of certain disparities amongst us because some of thestudentsdid not agree about the validity of the third and fourth selection criterions. Thefourparticipatingmembersagreeduponthevalidityofthecriteriaoforal communication. Oral communication skills are the most sought after and important skills required for both professional and personal success. The members agreed upon the idea that the presence of this skill eases the selection process in every field, be it during college admissions or during the interviews prior to job interviews. We had recognized the importance of being orally strong and aware of the nuances of oral communication. Studies have shown that strong and cohesive grasp over language helps in accentuating the communication prowessand acts as the driving force for self-motivation(Jackson 2014, p. 22-34). The four members agreed upon the second criteria of self-motivation. The idea of self-motivation also acts as major criteria because it helps in comprehending the character and determination of candidates. In order to succeed in work place, it is important to include the idea of self-motivation (Deci & Ryan 2014, p. 26). One of the members had presented that an employee or student cannot hope to succeed without incorporating self – motivation. The criteria of self-motivation is an important criterion in gauging the ability of the

For example, during the period of my previous employment in a reputed company, I had undergone a situation that helped me in understanding the implication of self-motivation and independent work. I had been assigned to complete a difficult task. With the help of sheer force of self-motivation, I could work complete the task without any intervention of others. Final Draft After analyzing all the constructive feedbacks, it can be mentioned that the opinions of every group member is important to scrutinize each criteria and their applicability.Considering and analyzing the viewpoint of each member is important to understand the varied and conflicting views and ideologies. Most of the group members agreed upon the validity of the first two criterions.For example, the presence of oral communication and self-motivation skills will help candidates in establishing connections in companies (McNaughton & Chapple 2013, p. 30- 36).Thus, the key selection criteria of oral communication coupled by self-motivation and the ability to work independently are very important to analyze the ability of candidates. Studies have depicted that the presence of the criterion of self-motivation assists the employers in comprehending the determination and capability of candidates. Motivating the self in the stringent workplaces can guarantee the proper completion of tasks and efficiency of employees (Shooshtarian, Ameli & Amini 2013, p. 27-43).Further, it is also seen that self- motivated employees perform better than others who are not self-motivated (Cherian & Jacob 2013, p. 80). The presence of this quality helps in the completion of work or tasks that are not usually taken up by others. It can help survive in the toughest situations (Bin 2015, p. 1-8). This

As mentioned earlier, the situation was that the task that I had been assigned was a difficult one. I had to resolve the situation by resorting to exercising my skills and awareness. The inherent skill of motivating the self helps in concretizing the ideas and resolving issues on an individual level. This skill had helped me in resolving the issue and completing the task by working rigorously and motivating myself at every stage. The task was completed within the assigned deadline and without any concrete help of others. The result of the presence of self- motivation is that it enhances the confidence vested in human beings (Ganta 2014, p. 22gne). The result of the above-mentioned situation is that it helped in boosting the confidence and helped in the completion of the task in a proper and channelized manner. The criteria of the presence of cooperative skills can help an aspirant in qualifying any hurdle. The presence of this skill is crucial in gauging the ability of proper interaction and communication building prowess in a group work (Gneezy, Leibbrandt & List 2015, p. 1856- 1883).This criteria can be fulfilled by imbibing the habit of cooperation that can be built by heightened interaction and developing inter-personal skills. For example, if an employee in our company fails to cooperate with others, he will face various problems. The key selection criteria of the presence of the ability to build professional and social networks is important in understanding the inter-personal skills of the candidates. This can be achieved by inculcating the habit if proper interaction. For example, one of the employees in our company failed to develop proper links and was terminated.
5BUSINESS COMMUNICATION Thus, it can be said that the factor of self-motivation coupled by the various criterions of good oral communication and inter-personal skills help candidates in appeasing the employers and complete tasks without any external help (Petrovici & Dobrescu 2014, p. 1405-1410). Reflection Having considered the various factors, I had arrived at certain ideas and conclusions. The above-mentioned activity had impressed upon me the need to understand and gauge the various nuances related to the key selection criteria and group activities. After this task and action, I had realized that these selection criterions are extremely crucial for employers to gauge the expertise and skills of each student and candidate. I think that the key criterions are also useful for the interviewee in understanding his/her potentials and the areas where they need to improve ort inculcate extra effort. This exercise impressed upon me the need to inculcate, cultivate and develop the aspect of inter-personal skills, especially, the prowess of oral communication. According to my opinion, oral communication helps in establishing a strong and invincible connection with the employer and other members. Studies have also reinforced the importance of inculcating the habit of oral communication, which in turn, is reflective of the grasp over the language and skills of a personand the motivation level of candidates(Keytonetal. 2013, p. 152-169). I had also learnt that the criteria of the presence of self-motivation also assists an employer in understanding the determination and skills of candidates. Self-motivation assists candidates in the completion of various tasks on the individual level with or without the assistance of others in a group activity.I had comprehended the importance of being slef- motivated by the situation where I had to complete a task on my own and without any extra

In addition to this, this criteria also needs to inculcate the aspect of the nature of the ambience that is present for the development of the candidates in a workplace. Further, upon reflectingontheincidentIcanmentionthattheadditionalfeedbackswereusefulin understanding the various nuances that needs to be included to ascertain the validity of the criterions. After reflecting upon the incident,I think that candidates who exhibit the skill of motivating the self and completing difficult tasks can do any task.Further, I had learnt the practical application of the criterion of self-motivation through this incident.I think that I should have generated the key statement after taking into consideration the perspectives of the fellow students.Had I tried to collate the approaches of the group members at the beginning, the conflict that had ensued during the results could have been avoided. The situation, task could have been collated in a comprehensive manner to iron out the differences in perspectives.
