INTRODUCTION
Business environment as defined by Keith Davis is the aggregate of all conditions,
events and influences that surrounds and affect it (Sinha, 2020). There are different tools and
models using which organisation can identify and analyse these influences of environment.
Pestle analysis is one of such model. Pestle analysis is important as it helps in identifying and
analysing external uncontrollable influences of environment. This involves influences that
have different opportunities as well as threats for company. This report will involve
application of Pestle Framework on Hilton Food Group Plc. Effective analysis of these
factors help in understanding impact of different environmental elements and what decisions
company should take to deal with these influences. Report will draw conclusion based on
findings of Pestle Analysis of Hilton Food Group Plc.
Task 1: Structure, management, and governance at Hilton Food Group Plc PLC
1.A) An overview and history of Hilton Food Group Plc PLC
Hilton Food Group Plc is a food packaging business. Company was founded in 1994
and is headquartered at Huntington, United Kingdom. Company was established to operate a
beef and lamb central meat packing facility and company became subject of an initial public
offering in May 2007 and it is listed on the stock exchange. It later acquired Seachill, a
company supplier of chilled and frozen salmon, in November 2017. Other than this, company
also have joint venture in Australia and Portugal. Hilton Food Group Plc is mainly dependant
on UK market that accounts for 52% revenue of company. Other than this, company operates
in Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Central Europe, Ireland and Australia. Company has 13
production facilities and employs 4718 employees.
1.B) How Hilton Food Group Plc is governed and structured
Organisational Structure of Hilton Food Group Plc
Hilton Food Group Plc follows an organisational structure. This structure groups
employees on the basis of their speciality, skills and related roles. This structure is based on
levels of hierarchy that include different departments, and these departments are directed and
governed by different departmental leaders (San Cristóbal Mateo, FERNANDEZ ALVAREZ
and Díaz Ruiz de Navamuel, 2018). In this departments mainly are based on functions that
are carried out in organisation and employees are employed and grouped on the basis of their
roles within organisation. Business in this organisation achieves their objectives on the basis
of coordination of different departments. This organisational structure has clear hierarchies,

responsibilities, authorities and reporting lines. This organisation structure facilitates
information regarding responsibility and authority and individuals in organisation are clear
regarding whom they needs to report.
Directors on the Board and executive and non-executive directors
There are 6 directors in Hilton Food Group Plc among which 3 director are executive
and three are non-executive directors of company.
Executive directors of company involves-
Robert Watson- Chairman of Hilton Food Group Plc joined company in 2002 as chief
executives and on 1 July 2018 transitioned into executive chairman.
Philip Heffer- Chief executive officer of Hilton Food Group Plc and joined company at its
inception in 1994 as managing director of the group’s UK subsidiary and since 2012 has
served as Hilton’s chief operating officer.
Nigel Majewski- He was appointed in company as chief financial officer in 2011.
Non-executive directors of company involve-
John Worby- He joined company in 2016 and is a chartered accountant with a wealth of
experience in public companies.
Christine Cross- Joined Company is 2016 was a food scientist
Angus Porter- Angus joined company in 2018 and has extensive knowledge and experience
in public companies.
Chairperson and CEO of company
Robert Watson
Chairperson of company is Robert Watson as chief executive in 2002 and in 2018 he
transitioned to executive chairman. He has overseen successful growth of the group to date.
Has also had experience in Foyle Food Group and was also a board member of the Livestock
Meat commission and food for Britain. He is also chairman of nomination committee.
Philip Heffer
Philip Heffer joined company from its inception as managing director of group’ UK
subsidiary and has served as chief operating officer of the company since 2012 and on July
