outcomes and have impacts of competition and market dynamics for sustainability. They are also limited
in investment and expansion in comparison of public sectors.

structure has expansion to the more number of customers as the organization has objectives to meet the
requirements of community for betterment. At other side, objectives to reach and support more number
of customers for effective services, a public organization has large size (Pulver, 2012). Scope of the
organization has root in the governmental control and support to enhance the services and products. For
example, NHS organization provides services and products in medical and clinical area to reduce the
cost of health care on individual in country.
In same manner, private organization has goals and objectives according to size and structure. A
vertical structure is follow to penetrate the market whereas a horizontal business approach is used to
achieve sustainability. For example, Primark can use horizontal expansion in size and structure to
achieve the objectives with more number of customers. At other side, products and services from a
volunteer organization has impact of size and structure on the services to community (Hamilton and

enabled to come into industry in fast manner. Therefore, organization has to manage the product quality

and entrant in market have negative impact on business to deliver the quality services and reach more
number of customers.
Bargaining power of purchasers
Industry has high competition and customers are moving toward the quality products within their price.
Therefore, organization has pressure to push the business for economic products also. However, higher
quality is a trade mark for business to overcome the issue of cost and retain the customers in business
(Porter and Heppelmann, 2014). Uniqueness is another feature which has positive impacts on purchasers
for buying relationship with organization.
Figure 4: Porter's five force model
Bargaining power of suppliers
Primark has effective relationship with suppliers and designers for raw or prepared material. Therefore,
the organization has less influence of them to push the business. Suppliers in business are also receiving
their benefits on time with additional services so that they are supporting business for more effective
quality and services. It has impact positively on growth of Primark.
Threat from substitute services or products
8
Document Page

that there are negligible negative impacts for substitution (Rothaermel, 2015). However, organization
needs to be updated about the changes in product and customer behaviour.

Opportunities Threats

-Innovation and unique features can help to drive
the profitability (Eva et al, 2014)
-Competition is increasing so balancing is required
in price, quality and service
-continuous monitoring is required in dynamic
market of customer buying attitude.
P6 Explain how strengths and weaknesses interrelate with external macro factors of the business
environment it operates
Primark and its objectives have contribution of strength and weaknesses to achieve the market benefits.
Therefore macro environmental factors and capabilities of the organization define the approach the
organization use to scale, grow and sustain. For example, the organization has capabilities in term of
customers and stores so that organization can deliver new products within effective time from all stores.
It can enable the organization to market new and fashionable products direct to customers within a short
time and before the competitors (Kutsenkova, 2017). At other side, large customer base help the
organization to drive the customer purchasing behaviour and market competitions. With the strength of
customers, organization can impact the industry for innovative solutions and drive the market for new
standards.
However, the weaknesses in business technology can impact the organization for suitability as
customers prefer to purchase the product with refund, replace and discount services. They also required
communicating with business representatives for queries and issues. Businesses have to balance
customers, suppliers and competitors (Cavusgil et al, 2014). Therefore, overall product cost needs to be
minimized and customer satisfaction need to be improved. Weakness to manage the balance in
relationship with macro factors in business, organization might face the issue of sustainability in
competitive world.
11
Document Page
M4 Apply appropriately SWOT analysis and justify how they influence decision-making in your
selected organization
Primark has main goals and objectives to promote the direct selling of the fashionable products to
customers so that economic price and high quality expectations meet customers’ satisfaction. According
to SWOT analysis of the organization, organization needs to consider the purchasing behaviour of the
customers and their inclination for particular products because if the organizational fail to deliver the
product of demand then customer base might be distributed among other organizations. Therefore,
Primark has to promote the customer satisfaction and brand value through the decisions of management
(Cavusgil et al, 2014). Strengths of Primark impact the decision making capabilities for better alignment
of capabilities to market scope. It helps to expand the business with more specific target to benefits.
At other side, weakness of the organization in term of traditional business management and approaches
can impact the decision making process. Management can face the issue of cost optimization in
comparison of market competitors. It also can impact the decisions for business expansion and cost
optimization at various functions. In term of opportunities, organization can use the scope in decision
making with proper consideration of the strengths and weaknesses (Kutsenkova, 2017). For example,
developing countries can be used as new market for higher profitability due to availability of finance and
customer base along with brand value but organization also have to consider the impact of operational
cost due to management weaknesses.
Threats for business impact the decision making for proper execution as business can face the issue to
retain the market plans for defined plan as market is dynamic due to new entrants and competition. In
such case, Primark has to align the market benefits and scopes with proper risk mapping to avoid the
loss.
