INTRODUCTION
In today’s business environment, to achieve success, it is essential for an enterprise to
make its offering different and unique form others. Present report is based on the case of F1
(Formula One) team. Major reason behind success of offerings of F1 team and initiatives that
could be taken by team to sustain its success in the future are all detailed in this report.
TASK
1. Needs in order to succeed in Formula One
To succeed in Formula One, it is essential to make car as per the requirements of teams
and to make it effective as compared to others. Further, F1 team is required to make its offerings
more effective with minimum resources. In order to gain success, it is essential to first examine
the features and services which must be there in a car. In this way, Formula One can get success.
2. Reason behind success of team during this period
F1 cars faced number of reasons which affect its competitive advantage. One of the main
reason that team was successful at that time was introduction of (KERs) Kinetic energy recovery
system. This made F1 cars hybrid with a special feature which generated energy during breaking
which was being stored and after that used to provide a power boost which was controlled by
driver. Further, production of F1 cars involves the use of specific facilities, wind tunnels and
other special features which were the major reasons behind success of F1 team. In addition to
this, introduction of DFV engine which was a purpose build, was light, inexpensive and powerful
also was also a main reason behind success of team.
3. Reason behind inability of team to sustain the success
One of the major elements why F1 team was unable to sustain success was that it
expected that changed rules and regulation for 2009 would improve the performance between
team but opposite happened. Further, as the F1 had moved to a single supplier of tyre so, there
was no competitive advantage in the field of tyres. In addition to this, introduced regulations
encourage new ways of reducing cost with the help of ban on testing and usage of wind tunnel
and all this resulted in temporary shutdown of firms.

4. Initiatives team could have taken to sustain their success further
In order to achieve growth and to sustain success, it is essential for F1 team to find new
ways to make effective products with minimum cost. They are required to encourage the
performance with minimum amount of resources. As firm introduced a Kinetic energy recovery
system in its cars, so, many teams did not use this as they regard this as an unnecessary expense
and in this situation, to get success they need to encourage the teams to use this. Further, they
need to find new ways to execute all operations with minimum cost.
CONCLUSION
From the above given information, it can be summarised that F1 faced number of
situations in market. Change in various regulation in 2009, resulted KER in formula one and this
helped in made the cars Hybrids but at the same time many teams considered this as an
unnecessary expense and decided to not use the same.
