INTRODUCTION
 Every business organisation has to maintain a healthy and
sound atmosphere for smooth functioning at workplace.
 So, it has to be made sure that internal and external
environment is suitable.

Nature of firm affects target and purpose whether
it is public or private and voluntary or public listed
firm.
They also differ in legal structure like sole
proprietary and partnership.

Private limited organisation: Primark is one of the biggest
example of the private company which is working in the
clothing retail sector. Total 185 stores are located in the
UK of the company and the company wants to expand it
near 400 stores.
Public sector organisation: Sainsbury is a public limited
organisation which is working in the retail sector and it is
having more than 1300 stores in the UK.
Charity/Voluntary organisation: Diabetes UK is charity
organisation which is having 1,80,000 members in the UK.

Purpose of different types of
organizations
• Public sector organizations: They have purpose of welfare of general people of
people without harming environment and society.
• Private Limited company (Ltd.):These type of firms has main purpose to gain profit
and revenue.
• Public limited company (plc): These types of companies have objectives to improve
existing situation of society and its people.
• Sole-proprietors: It has purpose to accomplish individual objective of person who
operates business.
• Voluntary sector organizations: These firms have purpose to raise funds for welfare
of poor class.
• Co-operatives:These have purpose to meet their own social, economical and cultural
needs through jointly owned units.
• Franchisees: It has purpose to gain maximum profit margin through selling other
company goods.

 Private firm has purpose to maximise profit, on other
hand, public company has objective of social welfare.
 Sole proprietorship is owned by single person and has
individual goal.
 While partnership is owned by more that one individual
and all have their specific purposes.

P 2 Size and scope of a range of different types

• Large size of company opens up vast scope to grow in
future as they operate their business for welfare of
society, for example, public firm and voluntary firm.
• On other hand, small size company has less potential in
future.
• Private organisations are small as well as medium size
depending on their investment and revenue.

their own specific legal structure which affect
range of scope.
• Organisation like sole proprietorship has very
less scope due to single person to manager
every activity.
