factor for a business to start and expand.
The business environment is complicated and
multilayered.
Different types of organization can have
different types of direct or indirect impact from
the different factors of the business
environment of the area they are functioning in.

Public Sector Organizations:
Public sector organizations
are those that are mostly
functioned by the state or
central government. The
major shareholder of NHS is
AHCS. Being a public sector
organization NHS has
partnered with private
sectors like Hurley Group,
INPS Vision etc to provide
services.

Public Sector Organization: NHS or
National Health Service is a popular public
sector organization of UK. Not only in
United Kingdom, it has also expanded as a
popular organization in Scotland and
Wales. According to C Lees and E Stubbs
the annual revenue of NHS is
£3,936,585,094.
Private Sector Organization: Hilton Hotel
and Resort has almost six hundred hotels
and resorts in eighty-five countries.
According to The Nation (2018), the Hilton
hotel chain is trying to expand its business in
the markets of Asia Pacific and South-East
Asia. It has a plan of opening more than four
hundred hotels around the Asia-Pacific
region. With around one sixty thousand
employees and annual revenue of around
$1.8 billion (ir.hilton.com, 2019) this
organization can be counted as one of the
giant hotel chains
Voluntary Organization: Parented by
Oxfam international Oxfam is an NGO that
does not earn any profits from producing a
product or services. Their main goals are
eradicating poverty globally and provide
reliefs to those affected by disasters. .

organisational functions and how they link to
organisational objectives and structure
Hilton is one of the leading hotels in the
hospitability worldwide. It operates with
hierarchical organisational structure. It is due to the
huge size of the business, consisting of 13 brands,
over 2,500 hotels in 74 nations all over the world it
serves over millions of guests.
The organisational structure of Hilton hotel divided
amongst different departments:
Finance
Human Resources
Marketing
Logistics
Operations
Technological
Customer Service
Legal

When there are resources required in any department, such as
Finance, Marketing, the role of Human Resource department
becomes evident. The advertisement of the openings, vacancy
are given in various media , candidates are invited for interview ,
interviews are held and finally proper candidates are selected to
provide resource to the specific departments.
Similarly, Human Resource department has to coordinate with
the Finance Team to estimate and draw funds for the entire
recruitment process (Köseoglu et al., 2019).
The Marketing team also coordinates with the Human Resource
team to provide the leads and sources of communication to
public media for inviting candidates for the hiring process.

Understanding the business environment is
essential for operating in the market in a
successful manner. The study has been done
for understanding the different types and
purposes of organisation namely public,
private, voluntary, and legal organisations.
Apart from this, the size and scope of these
organisations have been discussed.
