2BUSINESS ENVIRONMENTTask 1Wakatu Corporation is an organization that is owned by Maori people. The organizationis based in Nelson, New Zealand. The owners of the Wakatu Corporation are the beneficiaries ofNew Zealand treaty settlement. They have vineyards, orchards and marine farms. They producefood and beverages. The Maori people are honest and they will be the best suppliers that Trumpenterprises can ever get. Maori people’s main occupation is agriculture so they are the bestproviders of agricultural yields (Wakatu Incorporation, 2017). They know the techniques forquality yield that can provide competitive advantage to Trump enterprises in America. Thecustomers of America demand fresh and natural products and partnership with Wakatucorporation Trump enterprises can fulfill as well as satisfy the needs of its customers. Task 2Significance of Treaty of Waitangi New Zealand has given the Maori and the otherinhabitants of New Zealand their right over their lands and its yield. The immigrants and tradersfrom other countries exploited the people of New Zealand. Merchants used to trade naturalresources in return of clothing, guns and other products. The Waitangi agreement between theBritish and the Maori people provided sovereignty to the Maori people over the land andresources. The Waitangi Act 1975 was modification of the initial treaty. The treaty of 1841 hadtwo versions and created a lot of conflicts but the treaty of 1975 made Waitangi tribunal. TodayWaitangi Treaty is can be called as the foundation of New Zealand because it provides equalityin the country. It is called the founding document (Orange, 2015). There is no single documentas the constitution of New Zealand rather there is multiple documents and principles treaty ofWaitangi is one such document.
3BUSINESS ENVIRONMENTThere were two versions of the treaty, the Maori version and the British version. TheBritish were known as Pakeha in the Maori language. The differences between the two versionsbecame a major reason for conflict. The conflict was because the word sovereignty has beentranslated wrongly as Kawanatanga in Maori but it means Governance. Similarly the Englishversion of the treaty guaranteed “undistributed possession” of all the assets while the Maoriversion guaranteed “ tino rangatiranga” which means full authority over the “taonga” whichmeans intangible. Maori people as per their values give importance to said words so for themspoken words were equally important as documented words. The difference in the two versionswas the main reason behind the conflict and it continued for very long time. Biculturism is the condition where people retain their cultural identity even if twocultures exists. Whereas, multiculturism occurs where there is cultural diversity. It refers toenjoying the oneness of different cultures. Principle of partnership is referred to the guidelinesthat form the basis of partnership between two parties. Mutual benefit forms the basis for theprinciple for partnership.Task 3Principle of partnership will be those guidelines that the parties, Wakatu Corporation andTrump enterprises will have to follow. It will affect business and business relations of the boththe parties. Bothe parties should cooperate and work in harmony with each other. Principle ofpartnership will be terms of the business that both parties will have to agree upon so that laterthere are no conflicts of interests between the parties.
