INTRODUCTION Business is the separate legal entity which is undertaken with the aim of generating higher profitability and revenue so that they can expand their market in an easy approach. It also performs certain functions in order to run the business in the right direction(Cagle,Yılmaz and Doğru, 2020).Some of the major departments of the major departments are human resource, marketing, finance, production and so on. Sainsbury's is the chosen organisation for this report, It is the largest chain of supermarket in the United Kingdom. This essay will cover the significance and role of various business functions. MAIN BODY Business function is defined as the tasks which is being carried out by the venture in order to have higher income of the enterprises. Sainsbury's is the leading company which perform various functions in order to have higher profits. Importance and the role of its business functions are as follows: Human resourceis the department which is concerned for the recruitment and the selection of the candidate by analysing their skills ad abilities so that they can effectively contribute to the growth of the business venture. In context to Sainsbury's, theroleof HR manager is to find the right person for their vacant job role and also provide training and motivate them for their better working. Theimportanceof this unit is to provide the right candidate who can full fill their duties and job responsibilities in an appropriate manner. This also helps in appointing the skilful and talented employees with higher efficiency. Marketingrefers to the process of promoting and communicating the product in the large market so that they can attract the customer for purchasing their goods and services. In context to Sainsbury's, marketing is having theroleis to communicate and advertise their products and services to the potential buyers. They also use different mediums to attract the large group of potential customers. Theimportanceof this function is to maintain the long term relationship with the customers so that they can retain with the product(Podder, Samanta and Gurunath, 2020). Financeis the unit which is concern for procuring and allocating the funds in the various units of the company so that all the business operations can be run in an appropriate manner. The mainroleof this unit in Sainsbury's is to acquire, manage and plan the overall expenses by
which resources are being managed in different departments. It is theimportantunit which act as the lifeblood to the business as funds are the main sources for the Sainsbury's in order to operate the business. Productionisthedepartmentwhichconverttheinputsintofinishedgoodsby undergoing many procedures. The production department of Sainsbury's undertakes theroleof easy availability of raw material so that they can finish the production within allotted time. The importanceof production unit is to add value to the products so that they can good quality product and maintain the customer demand in an appropriate manner(Yankah, Aigbavboa and Thwala, 2018). CONCLUSION It is concluded from the above essay that business performs certain functions in order to achieve the objectives. All functions are depends upon the each other and inter linked so that they can ensure smooth running of the business. Sainsbury's is having potential staff who can perform their job role in an appropriate manner.
