Question 1
A run chart is a data visualization that allows for the plotting of data points over time
(Kirk, 2016; Roles, Baeten, & Signer, 2016). The run chart serves a trend analysis chart
enabling the observation of the changes in a variable as time passes (Everitt & Skrondal,
2010). The plot below, Figure 1: Run Chart for Luckway Supermarket's Customer Complaints
gives the run chart for the data on the complaints made by customers of the Luckyway
Supermarket, every Sunday, collected over a period of 8 weeks. The plotting of the chart
considered the weekly frequency of complaints. From the plot, we observe that there has been a
generally decreasing trend in the number of complaints from week1 to week 8. A significant
deep noted in week 3 before a slight jump in complaints in week 4, followed by a steady
reduction towards week 8.

A Pareto chart is a data visualization graph that combines the visualization of both the
individual frequencies of observations and the cumulative frequency at each observation point
(Chambers, 2017; Howitt & Cramer, 2010). The individual frequencies of the observations
are shown using histograms arranged in descending order with a line graph, in the same plane,
representing the cumulative frequency for the data (Martinez, Martinez, & Solka, 2010). The
plot in Figure 2: Pareto Chart for the Types of Luckway Supermarket's Customer Complaints
shows the Pareto chart for the data on Luckway Supermarket Customers’ Complaints. The
plotting of the chart considered the type of complaints (categories of complaints) as the
observations. From the plot, we observe that the most complaints fell under the stock issues
category closely followed by the store and facilities maintenance category.
