INTRODUCTION
A company is a corporate body or a legal entity which is authorized by a group of
individuals and is registered under companies act. The company’s aim is to earn revenue and
profits by considering certain objectives and goals whether it is formal or informal by nature.
This report is prepared on the types of company which can be categorized in small, medium or
large sized business and many more (Heyes, G. and Et.al., 2018). The report is also outlines the
external factors through which a business can be impacted and their growth and development
also gets affected in the industry. This report is based on the Tesco Company which is a British
multinational company in UK. The company basically sales and trades products such as
furniture, clothes, groceries, shoes and much more.

Varieties of companies and how they operate.
Small business:
A company who have less employees or have less annual turnover in comparison with
other regular companies can be termed as small business (Islam, M. A., Haque, S. and Roberts,
R., 2017). This company is owned on a private basis by owners. In this type of business
generally business owned like guest house, bakeries, small grocery stores and many more.
Characteristics:-
In comparison with other size business it generates revenue and profitability very low.
When business generates low revenue for the company, it does not mean that it has less
profitability but it means that the company supports to keep its cost low more than leveraged
company. These are such type of business which can be operated from a single office only.
Taxes and partnership ownership generally small scale business favors to run as a sole
proprietorship or can be defined as a limited liability company (Zielinski, D., 2018). It has
satisfied with the highest degree of management control while also supports in reduction in
expenses of registering the business.
Some examples of small size business; fast food delivery restaurant, guarding business,
broad world event house, catering business, car washing, internet business, coffee shops and
much more.
Medium size business:
A company who has minimum 250 employees is termed as medium size business in
Companies Act 2006. These are such type of business which has complex entities in which
business ownership is disconnected from organization.
