Introduction
Tesco plc is a British multinational Corporation that deals
in retailing of grocery and general merchandise. Its
headquartered in Welwyn Garden City, England. It's also
the world's third-largest retailer in the world when
measured by gross revenue and ninth-largest when
measured by revenues (Miklian, Alluri and Katsos, 2019).
Tesco And Its Environment
External Environment
Political: The company operates globally, which implies
global political factor will impact its performance. Tax rates,
acts of legislation and stability of the country majorly
influence its performance.
Economical: Tesco has to be aware about any change in
policies like that of taxation, bank leverage etc. this could
easily affect the availability of finance.
Social: Due to social changes in UK customers have started
shopping in bulk from one place only. This made Tesco
increase its non-food products offered for sale.
Technological: Technological advancement has lead Tesco to
fair advantage point, online shopping with home delivery
facilities is one of the major advantage the company has
received.
How the company impact its context External
Environment
The company has removed 'display until” dates and
witched to single date codes of either 'best before' or 'use
by' across its fresh products which include meat and
dairy categories.
Tesco believes in good and well being of the people, it
create jobs and opportunities for people and
communities across the world. The company protects
the rights of workers and enhances the rights of
communities. This has empowered workers and labour
along with supporting the community.
Tesco has invested a significant amount on energy
efficiency projects to fulfil its long-term objective to
reduce its carbon footprint.
Internal Factors
Strength: Tesco's current market share in Great Britain is
26.9% compared to its closest competitor Sainsbury
which is only 14.9%.
Weaknesses: Panic buying lead to shortage of products,
especially in the pandemic. Tesco sells a wide range of
food items, if they fall short of safety standards then the
consumer is endangered.
